endomiel Posted June 16, 2020 Posted June 16, 2020 I'm pretty happy with my current mod setup. Is there a way to make a back up of it? I'm using MO2. Thanks in advance!
Varithina Posted June 16, 2020 Posted June 16, 2020 Easy as pie, use the backup tool on mo2 itself, there is one for the left pane and one for the right pane. Then copy the loadorder.txt and modlist.txt from the appropriate profile directory to somewhere safe, this however will not include enb/reshades or skse, that would require re-installing. The other option is to go into the mod organizer directory and back up the profiles, and mods directories to where ever is safe, depending on how many profiles and mods you have this could be a very large size, mine is over 300gb just for the mods directory. Chances are you would want to keep a backup of the downloads directory as well, that will be where ever you told mo to place it. Third way, and this will take a fair bit of space up, is zip up the Fallout directory itself from your hard drive, then zip the mod organizer folder up and store both of them somewhere safe, though for it to work properly you would need to re-install to the same directory and drive locations as it currently is if you needed to.
Gamaramdi Posted June 17, 2020 Posted June 17, 2020 I don't Trusth in the backups from de mo's, what i do is backup the entire fallout 4 directory and i put a copy of my pluggins.ini on it, so... if i screw something up or a mod breaksm my game i always have a backup, i do that every week.

What do you mean with you put a copy of your pluggins.ini on it? On where? Im using Vortex, how can i back up my mods ""and load order""? Just by copying the fallout 4 directory to somewhere?

Both your fallout 4 directory and your vortex install as well I think, though having never used vortex not too sure how it works, possibly your documents\my games\fallout 4 as well as that is where the save files and such are.

Gamaramdi Posted June 23, 2020 Posted June 23, 2020 It means i copy the entire game to another directory, it carries every mod, textures, customed esp's, customed meshes, clothing, and all to another place, and even another partition or hd, and i make a copy of my load order, so i even can install my exact same game in another pc. I dont trusth mod managers, any of them, cause they are really undependable for this, besides, if you like me have 100 gbs of mods my bakup weight is around 130 gbs, if yo make a backup with some mod managers, im pretty sure it will backup 100 gbs of downloaded mods + 100 gbs of the same already installed mods + 30 gbs of the game...

I went a step further and put my entire modded fallout 4 on a disconnected hard drive just so that it's always there (note to self make notes on the mods that I need to remove)
