DeltaD36 Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 I've seen a lot of other people who use the Diablo Elf race having hairs that mine do not have. I'm wondering if there is a Mod that adds more hairs to Diablo Elves or if I'm using the wrong version of the race. I'm using the Standalone version, which only has like 4 eye colors, and about two or three hair sets. Is there another version of Diablo Elves that has more hairs or am I just missing a mod? Edit: I seem to recall soomething like XEO or something having them, but I'm not sure which one. The one I'm being directed to in Google, XEO4 or the like, has rather vauge install instrustions, and if I want to have the Diablo Elves from there, I'm not sure what all I need. I wasn't sure whether to post this in Tech Support, since I feel like I'm asking more tech related questions, or to post this here since I'm not sure if this is a hair mod for the race, or a different thing all togeather.
Nephenee13 Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 Adding new hairs to a race is rather trivial.
DeltaD36 Posted February 27, 2013 Author Posted February 27, 2013 Adding new hairs to a race is rather trivial. Well, it would make me happy. Why is it trivial?
Nephenee13 Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 Adding new hairs to a race is rather trivial. Well, it would make me happy. Why is it trivial? You just have to have the hair mesh and texture, then just open up the race in the CS and add the hair to it.
DeltaD36 Posted February 28, 2013 Author Posted February 28, 2013 I have no idea how to do that. And what is CS, unless it stands for Race Menu.
Thorazine Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 CS = Construction Set, the Official modding tools by Bethesda, or something. http://cs.elderscrol...onstruction_Set
Guest ThatOne Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 To add hairs to a race, you first have to register them in the esp. Load up your esp, then go to characters -> hairs on the top tab. A window will pop up listing all the current hairs that the esp currently has listed. You want to add new ones, so right click -> new. Fill in the mesh, texture, ID and name. Make sure it's marked as "Playable", and not "Fixed color". Do this for every hair or eye (characters -> eyes) you want, then close. Save (you don't want all your work to go to waste, do you?). Now, open the race menu (characters -> races), re-open the hair and eye windows. Find the race you want, then drag & drop the hairs and eyes you want added to the race's list.
Guest flingingfeces Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 Wigs are also a great thing to have. http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/40774
DeltaD36 Posted February 28, 2013 Author Posted February 28, 2013 I'd rather not use wigs. They cover up the ears. So no one has an already edited .ESP for this race already? x_x I've no idea how to use CK. In those intructions it seems easy, but I have no idea where to start. I don't want to download a bunch of stuff, than not have them work correctly, or be unable to open what needs to be open, than just give up on it entirely.
Nephenee13 Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 Amazingly enough, if you want modded stuff, you will occasionally have to actually do some of the work yourself. This is trivially easy, and in the amount of time you spend begging someone to do it for you, you could have it done yourself.
DeltaD36 Posted February 28, 2013 Author Posted February 28, 2013 Alright. Explain to me, step by step, what I need to do. . First; Please tell me everything I need. . Second; Please explain in a LAYMAN'S TERMS what I should have prepared (What Files I should have ready for use, and files such as meshes or textures), and how I can accomplish my goal of adding more hairs and eyes to the Diablo Race. It will be great to understand such a trivial and simple thing. I understand doing this is 'easy' to you, Nephenee, but that puts me nowhere closer to what I wish to accomplish. Agian, if you could explain to me in the terms above, I will do it myself. Thank you.
Nephenee13 Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 ThatOne already explained how to do it. You just have to have the hair meshes and textures in your data folder (assuming you want to use ones from other race mods or whatever. One reason other people can't do this for you is that we don't know precisely what you want), and then you just need to get the CS and do it. Complaining that you "don't know how" is completely unmoving, since know one knows how until they learn. And as long as you make a backup of the Diablo Elf ESP (which you can just download again if necessary) its not like you can screw anything up permanently.
DeltaD36 Posted February 28, 2013 Author Posted February 28, 2013 Alright. Well I'm trying to install CS 1.2, and closed out even Steam, my browser, my firewalls, and I get this message: "Please make sure you have finished any previous setup and closed other applications." It's wierd it says this, because this is the same error I get when I try to install a free trial of Photoshop. After searching for an answer via Google, (The only thing I found being turning off the firewalls), I've got no idea what to do.
Nephenee13 Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 Restart your computer and try again?I never had any issues installing the CS, so whatever the problem is, its your computer.
DeltaD36 Posted February 28, 2013 Author Posted February 28, 2013 This was something I tried whenever I downloaded the CS the first time a few monthes ago. The same thing happend.
FinalCloud Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 For the eyes, to get alot of the custom ones to work, I had to change the eye type of the DiabloElf to HumanEye (in the CS), which obviously broke the default Diablo Elf one.
Guest ThatOne Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 FinalCloud, that's due to different eye meshes. Obviously, there can be incompatible eyes. DeltaD36, I'm guessing this is where you got the CS download from? http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/11367 If not, try that one. As Nephenee13 said, we can't really help you out on this as we don't know which hairs you want, or where they are installed on your setup.
pringles89 Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 someone already mentioned VipCxjs Hair Eye Extend System just adding a link. would recommend it to anyone as an easy way to change hairs in game. it does take some initial set up of folders and copying the hair meshes into your custom folders, but it's worth it. http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/37096
Poontank Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 This mod is also a good way to try out hairstyles on a character beforehand to see if it's actually worth adding them to a race in the CS. If there will be clipping, if some hair has the 'curtain effect' obscuring too much of the face and such. Just keep in mind the mod needs VipCxj's plugin collection to work! A link to it is the description page. One more important point: All textures for a hairstyle need to have the same file name as their corresponding mesh! Especially a problem with some hair like 'Ren' hairstyles as they all tend to use a texture set just named 'RenHair01'.

Downloaded it from there just now, and I'm still getting thag set up error. x_x I think my PC has some issues with InstallShield Wizard. Has anyone ever had something similar? I'm wanting to add the SKS Ren Hair to the Diablo Elves. That' really about it. :/
Nihaoma Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 I think the problem may have something to do with Steam. Most of us play and mod Oblivion the PC edition.
Guest ThatOne Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 What error code do you get when attempting to install the CS?
DeltaD36 Posted March 12, 2013 Author Posted March 12, 2013 What error code do you get when attempting to install the CS? I decided to make a post about it here. I have all the information i know of on that Post.
