MarsMe Posted June 9, 2020 Posted June 9, 2020 So installing skyrim on a new computer and after starting it up I discover about 8 saves from 2012 that appear in my saves folder. I can only assume that there is some very weird syncing going on cause I have switched computer 2 times since 2012 and never seen these saves before. I checked that steam cloud is off and Microsoft account sync is off. Then did a new install and they came back again. Started a new game to see if any files changed and sensitivity was way down. Unless i remember wrong that should be in the middle on a new install? Any idea why steam would think I want these super old files?
travelmedic Posted June 9, 2020 Posted June 9, 2020 Your saves are stored in your My Documents/My Games/Skyrim folder. Did you copy over your old documents into your new computer?

On my old computer I reinstalled skyrim several times and it never recreated old save files before. Sure if I didn't remove them after uninsstalling Skyrim they would remain on the computer, but now it's pulling in old files. Guess I'm going to reinstall steam and see if that works.
RW311 Posted June 10, 2020 Posted June 10, 2020 When you install steam on new pc or new o/s in library menu of games select properties of skyrim and disable steam cloud before installing the game or it will copy over those old saves. You don't need to reinstall steam because if you do it will probably just do the same thing unless the settings get saved to a registry. Just delete the old saves from the menu, this does not mean it's copying over game files that could affect anything it's just save files.
