Vthena Posted June 4, 2020 Posted June 4, 2020 Hey ! I love to take screenshots. And I would love to share my workflow. Let's start with the basics : - You can press 'Tab' to go in Photo Mode, and move the camera freely. - Composition is important, same principles in painting, cinema or photography. - In The Sims 4, lighting is tricky since it's not handled the same way inside or outside a building. - You can use in-game animation and stop time, or use Poses. (Google, "Poses sims 4" if you don't know what I'm talking about, there is plenty of tutorials.) - Time of day/weather is important when shooting outside. You won't have the same colors, or the same color saturation. You can get some decent results without outside tools! These two screenshots aren't edited in any way. The colors are a blit flat, there isn't much contrast. You can change this by using ReShade, or a 2D Editing software. (I use Photoshop.) Two screenshots with some basic color edits. Or, if you wish to learn 2D Softwares, you can go crazy and spend hours on a single picture. Here is a Before/After. And a Step by Step video of the process. S05.mp4
Vthena Posted June 4, 2020 Posted June 4, 2020 Editing in post is useful, but the most important is composition and ideas. You don't always need to show the entire subject. Play with the environement, like the sun or the rain. You can tell an entire story with a single picture if you plan the scene. Lamp posts can be great allies if you shoot at night. (And they don't have to be in shot if you get close enough and/or crop to a square.) There is nothing wrong about taking plain screenshots. But I hope I have you some ideas!

jabbathejedi Posted June 4, 2020 Author Posted June 4, 2020 Wow, your photos really look amazing! Specially the last one. I will give a try to the poses ( I didnt know about it) and Photoshop, but I have to learn some things first, cause I only use Adobe Premiere. Thanks, later I show you the results.

While Reshade can melt an underpowered graphics card (I thank the heavens that I have a GTX 1060, a card that's way overspec for Sims 4), it can be enabled and disabled at will and only needs to be active for the short periods of time when you're taking screenshots and can then be disabled when you go back into normal gameplay. Some of the Reshade presets available produce some truly stunning results.

I have an R7 and Sims 4 runs excellent, but i dont think thats going to be the same with reshade, maybe as you said, activate it only for photos.
