FinalCloud Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 Hi, so I followed the step by step guide earlier to install the High Res Skin Tone Textures for HGEC, upon completing installation of this, I have noticed a difference between the skin and face color of the player character, (in the case of some races it is completely different). Any ideas if this is a common issue? If so what is a method to fix it?
gregathit Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 You need to go find the high res facial textures now. Also change your bFaceGenTexturing from 1 to 0 in your oblivion.ini file in your my documents folder where your saved games are.
FinalCloud Posted February 16, 2013 Author Posted February 16, 2013 Thanks man Do you mean the ones that are available on the High Res Skin Textures for HGEC files section? As I already have them from what I can see. Or do you mean hi res for MBP (if it exists)? Also facegentexturing already set to 0 (has to be as I am using XEOSP++) Do I have to reinstall all facemods (MBP/XEO etc) now that I have installed the Hi-Res pack as I know that HGEC should be the first thing that is installed.
DeltaD36 Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 Thanks man Do you mean the ones that are available on the High Res Skin Textures for HGEC files section? I've recently had this problem with my Diablo Elves. Example: Is that kinda what it looks like? If the answer is 'yes' than it's then the issue is the Skin mod you just applied. Make sure you keep some backups of the tuextures for the mod you where changing the textures of. I reinstalled the Diablo Elves Race mod when this happend. And upon looking at this race newly installed, the colors matched up fine. I than added the 2046x2046 Pre-Glossed Skin for this race out of the same texture pack as you are referring to, in not just a standalone version but for this particular race, than the issue came back. I was cautious before I did this though. I kept a back up of the normal textures and upon restoring them, this issue was no longer there. When I had installed FlingingFeces Diablo skins, a DIFFERENT skin mod, to this race, the issue was still gone. I came to a conclusion that it was the 2046x2046 Hi-Res skin packs textures that actually fucked up the color coordination for the races. :/ I don't think the Hi-Res Skin pack came with the matching textures. MAybe it's just you and me that has experianced it, but I can't think of any other reason.
FinalCloud Posted February 17, 2013 Author Posted February 17, 2013 Hey mate thanks for the info Picture Here: It is a little more subtle than the one in your screenshot, my only conclusion is that the hi res face pack on the Hi Res HGEC mod is not installing correctly for some reason. Also the texture pack for HGEC doesnt contain anything to do with the Diablo Elf Race (altho the Diablo Elf Race probably uses stuff from it) If I have to il just put the original body textures back from the HGEC omod, which if my hunch is correct, will fix it. The hi-res bodies look nice tho =(
gregathit Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 Due to how incredibly hard it is to match the two most folks download and install a necklace mod to hide that seam. There are several at the nexus just for this. It is not a perfect solution by any means but it beats spending hours upon hours using gimp to try to make the face texture match the body.
Slammer64 Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 What gregathit said, this is my personal favorite, you can set it to automatically add necklaces to NPC's on load: http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/34082
FinalCloud Posted February 17, 2013 Author Posted February 17, 2013 Thank you for the information! So it is supposed to happen =/ Out of curiosity does the same thing occur with the 2048 textures? (I Presume it does) If not I would probably go for them.
gregathit Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 I think you will find it happens with pretty much everything beyond the vanilla.
FinalCloud Posted February 17, 2013 Author Posted February 17, 2013 Ah well, I figured HGEC isnt vanilla, but yea, I guess it is caused by the use of higher resolution textures in these versions Anyway thanks Greg! Tragically broke my game trying to fix it already. I lold, reinstall joys
DeltaD36 Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 Final Cloud, I sent you a Private Message regaurding the texture I used to fix this issue. You really don't NEED to get a stupid necklace. >>
