wicked whims dysfunction after Sep 2019

Hello,

I still got the problem and couldn t resolve it so far.

The Sims 4 game only gets on with the old version of 19-9-13, any other new version doesn t get started. There is only

the rotating sign to wait. The main program starts and also the last map but not the concrete game. I wonder what it is,

happened again with the last version 20-4-2. Anybody who might have a clue?

If you have any mods you should move them to desktop in a temp folder for now.

 

Then do an Origin Repair on your game next.

Delete your localthumbcache file in your TS4 folder.

 

Now make sure your game runs OK without any mods.

 

Many mods will need to be updated to run with the latest game patch/version.

 

Start with adding WW plus Animations first, if you use it that is.

I did as you recommended,  restarted without any  mods - which occurred to run without problems. However with the newest WW plus animations

it didn t work but failed to run when the household should start.  After restarting with the old WW mod of Sept 2019 it restarted properly. Then I added all the mods. So remains the old

problem. with recent WW versions. I hoped the newest version of 08-04-20 would help. Whatabout the localthumbcache file? I tried it, but didn t help either??? Maybe I did

something wrong...

Finally it worked, thanks. Was very strenuous - I started with the newest wicked whims mod alone and then I added

the animations - one by one - finally I added the mods in clusters.

 

The reason was CNNW and other CNNW animations.

 

Wicked Whims doesn t work with Dumbaby - all kinds of it.

Caution to use either CNNW or Dumbaby - that s my conclusion.

Didn't know you had those other mods so it's pretty hard to troubleshoot from this end.

CNNW has been replaced by Kinky Whims now, but it doesn't get updated whenever WW gets updated, it takes a few days sometimes.

There are quite a few mods that don't work with WW anymore.

Basemental Drugs & MCCC are safe though, and most mods from LL are updated pretty regular.

 

Major Game updates often break WW and other mods so it's best to have Origin auto update disabled.

If it won't let you play just cancel update and play offline until mods are all updated/tested first.

Once the game has been updated you can't go back.

Luckily the last patch 1.62 was only bugs fixes.

It's the big pre-patch releases for upcoming new packs that cause problems with mods.

 

But for the future, open Origin and click on Origin at top menu.

Then click on Application settings and scroll down to client updates and disable game updates.

 

I ended up with a big mess yesterday after updating WW to 153b.

Worked for a bit then auto sex quit working completely

Reverted back to WW 153a and it still wouldn't work, even using old imported settings.

 

Luckily I had backed up my entire TS4 folder to a secondary hdd a day before.

Before restoring it I copied my Tray folder and my Saves folder to desktop as I didn't want to loose all my recent edits.

But I removed the Wicked Settings folder from inside my saves folder because I think that's where the trouble was.

Then deleted my current TS4 folder and restored my back up.

Deleted the Tray folder and the Wicked Settings in saves folder and copied my newer ones from desktop back to TS4 folder.

 

WW auto sex is now working right again with 153a.

Also updated MCCC to 7.0, and UICheats, and next is Paulson's NPCC.

Checking between each update to make sure things still work before saving.

 

So if you can, when everything is working good, back up your TS4 folder to another drive.

I also backed up my C:/Program Files x86/Origin Games folder which has all my game/pack downloads.

Thanks for your forther informations.  I backed up my saves and tray next to mods - since about 2 years regularly. In options I voted actually -according to your advice - for no actualisation, so I can start without updates. I tried to restart the game from my backup TS4 folder - doesn t work: As far as I know, you won t start the game from a second laptop etc but you are forced to download all game parts again... with the actual version of TS4.

Backups only work if you have a good working game with mods that isn't really old.

Then you have to delete your current "User/Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 4" folder and copy your Backup back to replace it.

All done on the same computer, backups can be made using an external hdd or flash drive to be restored later.

Easier for me as I have a desktop with 1 extra data partition and also second physical hdd for backups.

 

All the original game downloaded files are in a different location: C:/Program Files x86/Origin Games/ 

These are usually fine as is, but you can back them up too if you want, but files location is very important for game to load.

So if your trying to move game to another laptop you will need these files too.

And a copy of Origin itself of course.

 

It's a bit complicated.

If your old original game was fixed and working all you had to do to disable Origin updates was to open up the Origin page and click on the game management at top.

And change the settings to not update game anymore.

 

You should just keep trying to get your old/original game working again and forget about relocating it.

 

For even more confusion I've had to delete my WW v153a and go back to WW 147i because the same problem happened 3 times and I got tired of it.

Since I don't use Kinky Whims(CNNW) or Nisa's Wicked Prostitution it's not a big deal.

 

My case of using backups to get my WW reset to work again is a bit out of the ordinary and not for those with normal problems.
