Giving NPC a custom texture

Hi all, I want to give a marriageable NPC a custom skin texture. The NPC is from the base game. Is there a guide to it?

Start at Stage 3 since the face is already created.

 

It's not a difficult process but it does a little while (in that it is more than just copying and pasting texture files)
