Castle Doors...City Gates...shifting.

This is more irritating than game breaking. Has anybody else had the issue of gates shifting position? In my install, Chorrol Castle's gate (pictured) and Anvil's main gate do this on occassion. In Anvil's case, it can move a good 30-40 feet from it's original spot to near the edge of the stables. Sigh...

 

Load orders aside...just seeing if there are others with this problem...or similar problems. Or perhaps you've found a solution in the past. I'm an old pro at sniffing out problems with my install...but this is a head scratcher. Turning off all obvious mods that could be causing it does nothing and once it is in the save...it's there forever.

 

Looking forward to any replies...

Try runnning Boss through your load order.

 

 

I have BOSS...unfortunately, it is unreliable with the various mods + Lovers I have running. Oblivion runs fine, btw. Just on occassion, a weirdness like the above occurs. Simply disabling mods doesn't fix the door once it gets saved so it is, perhaps, one of the mods listed going squirrelly during a save. My hope is that there's somebody out there has had a similar event and notices a common mod in the load order.

Go to the nexus and get either refscope or formid finder and use one of them to find what esm\esp the wonky doors are coming from.  Then you can try fixing your problem.

You mean Refscope right?

If that is the case then note down the formid it gave you and then fire up Tes4edit and look in the oblivion esm to find the item.  If another mod is messing with it then you will see it displayed in columns on the right of be oblivion.esm.

Alright...did that. The FormID for the door is 0000090E (also lists 0000090B) and it is referenced in several mods. While turning the mods listed 'off' doesn't fix the door, am I to assume it is ONE of the mods listed causing the initial problem?

Yes.  If you look at the list of mods that it is referenced by, then look at the one on the far right.   That one will be the one that is over-ridding all others.  What you can do is to delete that door from all mods so that only the vanilla door is showing from the oblivion.esm.   Obviously, back up each esm\esp BEFORE modifying it with Tes4edit.  That way if things blow up you can easily and quickly restore the files and try another route.

 

Just for kick and giggles you might list all the plugins that are using that door so others can take a look to see if they have some advice for you.

Some of the entries in RefScope are coloured purple (sorry Whoopie...Oprah). What does that indicate?

If it was me I would delete the entry from all except these two:

Unofficial Oblivion Patch.esp

Vampire Hunting - Order Of The Virtuous Blood.esp

 

While I do not use the Unofficial patch (don't need it with OOO) I think it is safe to assume that it is not the source of the problem.

I do use David Brasher's plugin along with better cities (closed cities version) and don't have the issue so I think this one is safe as well.  Plus the fact that Brasher really does a kickass job of putting mods together and cleaning them.

 

I honestly don't have a clue about the purple entries.

Sorry, didn't mean to allude to using refscope to delete things.  As far as I am aware it only provides information.  I meant using tes4edit to delete the entries so that they would be removed from those mods.  Do remember to back any file up prior to deleting anything.
