skse ini and memory help please :)

Hello. first i hope you are well and safe.

If i start with just giving a little info on my PC so i can show its a good one ( not boasting but just making it clear its powerful) which will make sense later in my topic. I have a desktop PC. stats as follows:

CORSAIR CARBIDE SERIES™ 200R COMPACT GAMING CASE
Processor Intel® Core™ i9 Eight Core Processor i9-9900K (3.6GHz) 16MB Cache
Motherboard : - ASUS® TUF Z390-PLUS GAMING: ATX, LGA1151, USB 3.1, SATA 6GBs - RGB Ready
Memory : - 32GB Corsair VENGEANCE RGB PRO DDR4 3200MHz (2 x 16GB)
Graphics card : - 8GB NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 2080 SUPER - HDMI, 3x DP GeForce - RTX VR Ready!
1st Storage Drive : -1TB SEAGATE BARRACUDA SATA-III 3.5" HDD, 6GB/s, 7200RPM, 64MB CACHE
1st M.2 SSD Drive : - 1TB SAMSUNG 970 EVO PLUS M.2, PCIe NVMe (up to 3500MB/R, 3300MB/W)

I have Steam on my D drive as well as the main Skyrim SE game. I use Mod organizer 2 as i have always done so with Skyrim ( Oldrim modded) and Fallout4 ( modded) .

I generally heavily mod my games. Right now i have 201 mods on Fallout4 and in the past pretty much hit around 230 - 250 mods on Skyrim.

Now my issue is that recently i have tried to mod skyrim SE . Both times close to 250 mods whiich i know is pretty much the max plugins for a modded Skyrim SE. Both time i have found that once i start playing i will get random CTD's. Graphically and FPS wise it does not struggle at all. No frame rate issue and graphics set to max. All textures show perfectly fine and no weird delays in gameplay.

But i will just be walking along or for example in Riverwood or Whiterun, exiting a building with a load screen or talking to a NPC and then it just freezes. image on screen pauses. Just stops. Doesnt go back to desktop. Only way i can close game is a PC force-close.

Now i am taking a wild guess that its the memory. Being a heavily modded game its reaching the memory Heap size and then just crashing. I do not have a skse ini as this is part of my question and need. Where exactly do i place a skse ini? i wanted to set up something like this ( just an example):

[memory]

DefaultHeapInitialAllocMB= ( value suggested)

ScrapHeapSizeMB=256

In my MO2 there are some Ini's that show there. One is a Custom.ini. it appears to be blank. But no skse.ini.

I do have SkSe script extender and know how to install it correctly.

I do not have SSE fixes installed before as i do not know how to install it correctly as it confuses me.

So if i should be creating a skse.ini with the above lines added, where do i create and place it ( exactly) and what would be the right default Heap size for a setup like mine?

I do not right no have the game installed or modded as i have deleted everything and about to start again. Please could someone that knows MO2 and a heavily modded game help! Any wise advice regarding making a heavily modded Skyrim SE become somewhat stable would be really nice. I understand any modded game will get crashes but i am do feel mine are due to the memory.

Thank you :)

Aloha!

First, did you run Memtest?

Hi. No i have not heard of that could you explain? is it a mod i use to check? I am guessing it will tell me if i exceed the memory? I dont see any Memtest in Nexus mods. Could you clarify what it is and how to use it please?

If you have Win 10 its easy: https://www.windowscentral.com/how-check-your-pc-memory-problems-windows-10

If not, you need THIS and a USB flash drive

wait i dont have a memory issue with my PC. did you see my PC stats? i have TONS of RAM and memory. its soemthing ingame. not my PC memory issues. Something is crashing the game and its NOT a lack of PC memory. Its soemthing else.

It doesnt matter if you have a lot of ram or not.

While Corsair has good quality controll, they still have 3-5% risk of failure (and im talkin about brand new products).

But its simple to test, play something else with very high RAM usage. If  its okay after a few hours then its skyrim related. If you freeze/BSOD then its time to memtest the crap out of your RAM modules (and look for the warranty)
