There are many variations of issues that can came from this.
HDT configuration depends on weighted bones in the object (skinned bones) and bones are always written in XML of that object. If armor has specific non body related bones ( not registered in default Skeleton) you need them to stay in the imported skeleton of the armor in order to export the outfit and they can work as intended ( open your outfit in Nifskope and see if full skeleton is present in it) . I did not try if OStudio can import SMP\HDT armor with the skeleton in it as an OUTFIT while you choose a reference body but you can try it.The best way is not to remove weightpainted information from armor when you convert them in OS. Technically you can re-rig (copy weights) in 3d apps (3dmax\blender) after you export from OS.You will need the original files (be it _0\1 meshes) and OS reconverted files to copy-paste custom bone weights .Yes, time consuming and a lot of tests gonna be wasted, but possible.

If your outfit just have the reference body bones (tits & butts for hdt.xml) its gonna work alright when export if you didn't delete them,it depends on how you work in OStudio.
