ElvenScoundrel Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 This confuses me, as the window in which you select a sound isn't like browsing your folders for the appropiate sound. Instead, you get a weird list of sound packs to choose from. What if I wanted to change the sound of something? I know you could probably put the sounds in the Sounds/fx/wpn folder, but I don't know the format.
DoctaSax Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 The list you get refers to Sound entries in the geck (object window: Audio/Sound), which in turn point to actual sound files in the sounds bsa. You'll find several entries there starting with wpn in the editorID, and most of them seem to point to .wav files. If you want to replace a weapon's sound, you'd either point the weapon to an existing sound entry, or add one of your own. You should probably extract a few of vanilla's from the bsa to figure out the bitrate needed, mono/stereo, that sort of thing.
ElvenScoundrel Posted February 8, 2013 Author Posted February 8, 2013 And what's the difference between high and low? It seems every weapon sound has both high .wav and low .wav files.
DoctaSax Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 Eh, I couldn't tell ya really - no experience with creating weapons. Seems that most weapons have sounds for 2D & 3D, so maybe that has something to do with it. Or not. This is one of those things where you probably should have a close look at how other mods do it.
