syd0nai Posted January 31, 2020 Posted January 31, 2020 I've been having this issue for a while now, where the game just locks up whenever I try to open the magic menu. I can still hear the BGM when it freezes, it's just that at that point the game completely stops responding, and all I can do is opening the task manager to terminate it. I find it especially bizarre that my earlier saves are unaffected, that the issue only presents itself after I've reached a certain (undetermined) point in the game. Not a single mod was added throughout my play-throughs, nor was any removed. Now, I've tried so many things and I've started from scratch with new characters so many times already in doing so, all to no avail. I've reinstalled the game and moved everything from good ol' Vortex to MO2. I've tried disabling all the mods I had suspected to be the culprits, I've also started fresh new saves without spell mods, yet still the solution eludes me. I've checked my save files with Fallrim (no negative result) and made sure there are no major conflicts between my mods...nonetheless, the issue remains, persistent. My latest character bears the shortest time in which the freezing problem is triggered. All I've done with her is, after beginning as a Stormcloak rebel with AS-LAL, heading to Aventus Aretino's house in Windhelm to accept his quest, hiring a carriage to Riften, accepting Grelka's errand then murdering Grelod (at which point the magic menu still worked), traveling back to Windhelm by carriage to complete Innocence Lost and collect the package Grelka requested, then back to Riften to deliver the package and grab a couple hours of sleep at the Bee and Barb. As you'd expect, my unsuspecting character was then abducted by the DB, by then I had once again encountered the issue (I had forgotten to check on it since I first left Riften). I should probably add that with all of my characters, I always boosted their levels to anywhere between 20 and 40, and also upped their skills to match. I've never heard of doing such things causing issues, so I doubt this bit of info is of any relevance, but in the off-chance that it does accelerate each character's magic menu doom...well, yeah. I'm already at my wit's end here, I'd appreciate all the help I can get...thanks in advance! loadorder.txt modlist.txt
Uncle64 Posted February 1, 2020 Posted February 1, 2020 This one may have some whit it to do. +The Witcher 3 Main Menu Replacer You should also navigate to SkyrimSE data folder and remove this file. *Unmanaged: Bashed Patch, 0 It is one file that Wrye creates when you start it up from outside MO, you need to run Wrye from inside MO. You should also consider to sort up your modlist. .
syd0nai Posted February 1, 2020 Author Posted February 1, 2020 Hmm... I don't see how the main menu soundtrack replacer can be the source of this... besides, all that mod contains is a single audio file. I had no idea about that bashed patch being an empty one! I've never actually used Wrye Bash until yesterday (never had a problem without it in the past), but well, I've removed it now, thanks. As for the modlist, well, just before starting this thread yesterday, I reorganized the whole list to match LOOT's plugin order and put up the important ones further up while leaving many of the patches and updates and whatnot down below (apparently, this didn't do anything for me, seeing as there aren't a lot of -obvious- conflicting mods). I'm aware that it probably still is one heck of a messy list, but I simply have no idea what a "proper" list should look like. Could you, perhaps, point me to the right direction?
