sora3 Posted October 6, 2011 Posted October 6, 2011 Err, you should move the LoversAnimObjectPriority and the LoversIdleAnimsPriority down to the bottom. That is the most glaring thing I see in there. Apart from that, xeoSP does bog the loading times of Oblivion a lot. Without xeoSP, it was pretty damn quick. With xeoSP, longer loading times so I'm guessing xeo isn't really optimised. Plus given how Oblivion is a pathetic engine, I'm not surprised it hasn't gotten a heart attack.
AC2 Posted October 6, 2011 Posted October 6, 2011 i didn't notice in load order, but you should consider getting streamline and game booster 3 helps immensly with lag. also reducing in game graphic and AA helps too. http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=10400# just make sure to download patch if getting latest ver and to place bottom of load no matter what BOSS says. http://www.iobit.com/gamebooster.html this closes uneeded background app and boost fps even more i use a laptop and these helps run faster
Guest Posted October 6, 2011 Posted October 6, 2011 I know that this is pretty obvious but, getting more RAM, an SSD, or a better video card are some external options to improving your game's performance. Before I bought more RAM, I was lagging a lot with lush and gaudy, unique landscapes, all natural, better cites and a ton of NPC mods (added over 2000 NPCs). I installed 4 gigs of RAM (for a total od 8 gigs) and I could get much better performance. I also have an SSD coming my way for further upgrading (plan to install a reduced QTP version for a better looking game. Go to crucial, let them scan your computer and they will show you your options concerning RAM that are compatible for your computer. 4GB of RAM was only sixty bucks, not too bad for better performance.
Sizustar Posted October 6, 2011 Posted October 6, 2011 Tweaking so your Oblivion.exe use more then 2g of ram will also help.
Guest Posted October 6, 2011 Posted October 6, 2011 Tweaking so your Oblivion.exe use more then 2g of ram will also help. Yeah, this too.
lolicatgirls9 Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 Tweaking so your Oblivion.exe use more then 2g of ram will also help. How does one do this? I could use a bit of performance maintenance as well.

Check out the Oblivion RAM Booster on tesnexus. It gives you a simple and easy tutorial and you get a big performance boost from doing this (increase depends on the amount of RAM you have).

Okay, I've got this done, but before I go, stupid question: Should I have patched over the obse loader, or was I right to just patch over Oblivion.exe? EDIT: Nevermind that, I already did it. Didn't hurt a thing. Now I grasp the concept of the program.

Okay' date=' I've got this done, but before I go, stupid question: Should I have patched over the obse loader, or was I right to just patch over Oblivion.exe? [/quote'] I'm not sure it will make any difference. If you don't experience any performance boosts then I'd suggest for you to patch over obse. But make back ups when necessary.
lolicatgirls9 Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 Okay, I'm not getting any performance boost at all, even after patching over both of those files. I must be doing something wrong, because I have 8gb of RAM and I can tell the game isn't using more than 2. One problem I'm having is getting anywhere northwest of Chorrol. I'm trying to get to the Cloud Top Mountains, but I can barely get to the Colovian Highlands before the game crashes.
gregathit Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=39550 Try the above program. It will help minimize some of Oblivion's wonky game engine. As to not using more than 2gigs of ram - That does not indicate that it hasn't worked. I myself have 12gigs of ram but even with all the tweaks I have installed (including streamline and others) I have never exceeded 3.2gigs usage without an immediate CTD. The program simply unlocks the ability to use more than 2gigs, it doesn't force it to. I patched the main oblivion.exe and not obse (I don't know why patching obse won't work I just never tried it). As HaloReachMan123 stated - ALWAYS make a backup of anything before you patch/alter it. The crashing in the Colovian Highlands is most likely due to a mod conflict, not a memory/processor/graphics card issue.
lolicatgirls9 Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 Thanks, trying that out now. The crashing in the Colovian Highlands is most likely due to a mod conflict' date=' not a memory/processor/graphics card issue. [/quote'] I know, it's just... anything to make it work, you know? I do need a little more help with my load order though. Rebooting this thread a bit: http://www.loverslab.com/showthread.php?pid=42107#pid42107
beck11 Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 As always with performance issues, it would help if you posted your system specs and your Oblivion graphics setting. My guess would be a mod problem especially if it was running fine before. My old rig was some intel dual core cpu at 1.2ghz with probably ddr1 ram. But I was still able to play the game(with all the xeo, lovers, armor and MBP mods) with acceptable results providing I reduced superfluous effects like water, shadows, decals so that I could give the higher res mods more room to function properly. More ram is not and will never be the answer alone, unless you're talking 512mb-1gb levels.
