Good early morning or late evening to you all. I have been searching all blasted day, well, really the week, on how to separate an armor set from HHermes OutfitSet SexyTopJean CBS. Here is an image of the outfit set I want so terribly to separate and make them standalone pieces that I can use for mash up and my own personal closet. These and others that I learn to convert will not be shared unless I get express permission from original creators.

So, yeah..onward. The jeans and shirt in the above pic come as a set. I did try the masking of the shirt and than separating verticies??? but when i put the pants on.. the shirt came too. Likely I`m a tool and have zero idea what I`m doing. As much as I would love someone to do this for me, I really need to learn or ya`ll are just gonna have to give me a room in the house...(I`d like a view). So pls if someone could help me learn or understand (without my head exploding from info overload) how to make this one piece into a two piece I would super appreciate it. I have read and watched everything I can find.. nobody has an answer specific to this that i can find. Also how do I make (once seperated) these pieces into their own standalone mod?

omg... time on deck is 4:16am...I can`t believe I`m still at this ...anywho, thank ya`ll for whatever help you can muster!!

First make seperate nifs for shirt and pants, one of them should contain the body, the other piece shouldn't.

You do that by taking the base nif in outfit studio mask all the verticles you want to keep and then go Shape -> Delete Verticles. Do that twice, once for the top and once for the jeans.

You now have two nifs. One with body, one without body.

Next we need to make sure they each use different equipment slots.

The one still containing the body should use slot 32 (should be by default), the other one should use a different slot. Check common web tutorials for this step.

Change it in the .nif! Not anything TES5Edit related.

Try something >50, doesn't matter too much.

Next we need to add the new items in the Creation Kit. Check this tutorial for doing that.

Make sure the 32 slot armor uses the 32 slot in the CK as well and the changed one uses the other slot you assigned in the .nif before.

This was very briefly what you have to do, let me know if you have troubles with any of the steps.

Ok, so do I do this once in a separate outfit studio session per item? The first part I mean. Or, both in the same session? Also Do i delete the two bodies that came with the mesh.. I am using cbbe-hdt as my reference.

You don't need a reference body for that and you do it twice in different sessions. You should have Top + Body in one nif and in the other just the pants. (Not sure what baseshape_outfit does/is in this nif.).

ok... I`m sorry... here is what I am understanding...

i open up OS, import from nif, (since I don`t need a reference bod).

Delete both bodies that come with the outfit.

Click masking tool, and proceed to mask off the jeans.

Click save as, enter all info and click enter.

When I check it in bodyslide, the t-shirt is still there. I`m assuming I have missed something, that you perhaps assume I must already know?

You haven't removed anything yet, you need to delete the verticles in the shape menu.

It's strange that the outfit comes with two bodies, this is very uncommon, but not a problem.

The way Skyrim adds outfits is by replacing your nude body( that occupies slot 32) which whatever new nif is now occupying slot 32. That means one of the nifs has to replace the body, while the other one that is not occupying slot 32 can go without the body. But we'll worry about that later.

I just checked, OS can change slots as well.

I always do it in NifSkope, which is the oldschool way, but we'll do it in OS which is probably easier, once you have two .nifs containing top + Body and jeans.

Obviously if you have not eliminated it, you will still find the body, the passage only serves to create two parts of the dress where there are no: the shirt and the pants.

I am confused about the the instruction concerning one with body and one without.

If he wears the shirt, the legs will remain visible taking advantage of those of the basic model.
If he wears trousers, the chest will remain visible using the basic model.

Do you mean the one with the body is the original and the one without is the new one I made?

What you have created will always be from the original, only in two distinct parts.

I did delete the vertices... after I masked off the jeans, the piece I wanted to keep, I went to shape and selected delete vertices than I saved as..blah blahblah, and than refreshed body slide and it still showed up as one piece...thats what I ment. I forget the delete vertices in upper post but i did do that.

so is that to say, that when i select it in body slide it will always show up as one piece? I are very confused.

There is no body in the bodyslide when i open the outfit. Perhaps I should not delete the bodies from the original outfit?

Theoretically you should have two parts, shirt and pants

You need to export your changes as nif, not save the project.

Once you did the edits, go to File->Export->ToNif

Name it something, and load that .nif to check if you did everything correctly.

ok so here is what i did (originally):

opened OS, imported sexytopandjeans.1nif

deleted the two other bodies, (body1 was for the shirt, bodyshape was for the pants.)

clicked the pants, cause thats what I want to keep and clicked the mask tool and masked them out.

clicked shape menu button and clicked delete vertices.

clicked save as and filled in all info, and saved. (I did not save nif to original mod..it went to its own folder under armors/meshes/name of file.)

than I refreshed bodyslide, found the file and previewed...shirt and pants together no bod.

and now i`m here typing lol.

So obviously, I missed something.

oh... well perhaps I`ll try that...facepalm.

Here`s a silly question....Is the nif that already comes supplied with a body not good? and if not..how do i create one witha body... do i click the add reference check button

 at the bottom?

Load reference and import your body (it will be marked green), import to nif and import the same body, import to nif and import either the shirt or the trousers ensuring that they are selected, right click and select copy bone weight (usually these values at maximum), wait for the process to finish, then click on Slider> conform selected, when it ends, export to nif and you will overwrite the pants or shirt you used to find it with your body

ok so when I delete vertices, the top remains.. I`m assuming its suppose to?

Edit: its not loading into BS even after I close it all out and re-open. Going to see if it shows up in-game...

I have uploaded the mod, I don`t believe there will be any issue as this is everywhere. I think ya`ll may have it here in your download sections. I wandering if there is something with the way the mod is packed that is not allowing for me to seperate it. it dose show up as a nif but it won`t load into bs, and it dose not load into the game. So I am at a loss. However, I am going to try again! So I think what I have to do, if I am correct in my understanding, is make four new nifs.

A1- IS FOR TOP

A2-IS FOR TOP WITH BODY

B1-IS FOR JEANS

B2-IS FOR JEANS WITH BODY

do i have this correct?

I did all this, followed to a T your instructions...I have the pants nif called Lowrise lightwashed jeans_0 (because I choose the slimmer version) This saved to MO>OVERWRITE>CAL TOOLS>BS>SLIDERSETS

This dose not show in BS, so I have no idea if it worked or not. After I deleted the vertices the dark color of the mask disapeared off the jeans and the top still remained. So unless nothing changes visually when this process is done, it`s not working for me.

Is there a better place to put these files should I change my output to somewhere else?

I apoligise again for my noobness but this is seriously driving me bonks!

Thanks again for your assistance. :)

I think there is a fundamental misunderstanding of what to do/ how to save in Outfit Studio.

Open OS -> New Project, select 'clear Reference' -> Next -> For Outfit Mesh, select From File, pick SexyTopJeanA_1.nif (put it on your desktop so you don't mix things up)

You get this:

1.PNG.6f8f98da8647b532e135c49f80a72014.PNG

We could do the mask and remove verticles thing now, that would work, but for now we can just delete the top as it's already seperated.

Right click Top -> Delete.

2.png.dad56dbe6387efaa63c57f88eb82ca24.png

Name it export_1 and put it on your desktop.

You now have a nif on your desktop.

Close OS and load that nif the way I described in the beginning, see if everything looks right. Don't use save as.

Next, if everything worked out, load the SexyTopJeanA_1.nif from your desktop again.

Now you have all four parts again.

Delete everything but the top.

On the right side, go to Partions, change the slot to 54:

3.png.f9951d6345bc94742830443f3071702d.png

Hit Apply.

Export to nif again, name it top_1.nif save it on your desktop.

You now have two nifs, the body + jeans in export_1.nif on your desktop and top_1.nif on your desktop.

Once you have all of that we can continue.

Well, that worked!! Everything showed up perfectly! I await the next step, and thank you for being so patient!

Do the same for the _0.nif and afterwards add everything to the game via the Creation Kit.

You basically follow the tutorial I linked in the first post for that.

If you just want to replace the original version with a shirtless version you can just overwrite the existing .nif files in your mod organizer/nexus mod manager with the shirtless version.

The other method would add everything properly to the game so you have three items to chose in the game,

OK got ya! will get to work immediatly!! :)

should I pack the texture files in with the meshes for CK?

p.s Do you know of a tutorial for converting FO4 armors to skyrim. It is modern clothes I`m after so I`ve found a few I would like to convert.

Don't worry too much about textures at that stage. As long as you keep the original mod installed everything is good.

Only ever did that once by importing the FO4 nif into OS and exporting it as Skyrim, but I had to set up the lightning properties from scratch as well as convert the textures that (at least in the mod I used where very different to Skyrim's format and conventions).

There might be a better way to do that, but I never looked into it.

However there are plenty of good modern mods out there. Have a look here. Also Vtaw Wardrobe 4 just released for Skyrim which might be of interest for you.

i actually have an interesting conundrum. i have a bodyslide of a nif i am attempting to port to a new body. nowthe bodyside has 1 slide and 1 nif. but in game the armor is modular. like 7 dif pieces 2 of which are skimpy.  but wheni port the outfit to a new body it added a body to the boots, belt, gloves, and all the other modular pieces. but in slots they are all in dif slots when checking in OS. So do i need to mask the body from all the other pieces except the main body? or is this a edit thing on esp?
