AmazoniaRed Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 I have an interesting problem that has only shown up recently. I go to start up New Vegas using Script Extender (which is installed properly) and the game starts up. While waiting to get to the main menu, the game gets stuck into an infinite loop of loading. The background for the main menu is shown but the menu options are never shown. I waited for a half hour trying to get the game to come up but the menu never finished loading. I have been able to identify the problem, but not the cause of the problem. A check of my processes shows that the game is using 230k memory when it should be using 2 million. Any ideas on how to fix this would be nice. Also, here is my system hardware (should be more than sufficient) cpu: i7 960 Ram: 12g Gphx: GTX 560 2gb
KainsChylde Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 If its a memory issue, try using the 4gb loader. Theres a link for it on the silverlock site where you found NVSE.
AmazoniaRed Posted January 29, 2013 Author Posted January 29, 2013 I checked out the 4gb loader but I was unsuccessful. It still has the same problem. I notice that it will also not allow me to access steam from Shift+Tab and Alt+Tab cannot minimize the game. I do Have the latest version of script extender installed as well. About my mods: I have a lot of mods and a lot of them come from this site though I have not added any new mods to the game since the last time it worked properly. I wonder if it is possible for the main NewVegas.exe file to be damaged. I will delete the main exe file and verify the game data cache to reacquire it to see if that can solve it but I doubt it.
ChancellorKremlin Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 Its not a memory issue. This happens if you're trying to load the game and there is a problem (usually corruption) with one of your mods. I've done the same thing to my game by screwing up a plugin in the GECK and then trying to play it. Your best bet is deactivating blocks of mods until you find one which makes the game work, and then narrow it down to a single mod to find the culprit.
AmazoniaRed Posted January 29, 2013 Author Posted January 29, 2013 SOLVED: You were right ChancellorKremlim and I very much appreciate the help. I finally did find what was causing the problem. I had made a sorry attempt at making my New Vegas game playable online with a friend and the vaultmpFNV.esp was causing the game to fail.
