Stupidly decided to try the 1.5.97 update and regretting it!

Recommended Posts

Is there any way to tell why Skyrim SE 1.5.97 crashes at startup ?

Was working fine with 1.5.80.

Updated game to 1.5.97

Updated -

  • SKSE
  • RaceMenu
  • AddItemMenu
  • MfgFix
  • EngineFixes
  • PassiveWeaponRecharging

  • Removed all the SL mods, Dibella Cult, etc.

  • Anything that was logging a failure has been removed.
    fuzrod-oh
    gotobed
    consoleutil
    ccextender
    alchemistjournal
    whosequestisit
    scaleform

Game still refuses to start.

I click the skse launcher, screen goes black for a couple of seconds, then the desktop is back.

Can't find any errors in the dozen or so different log files scattered all over the place.

Really don't want to face starting from a 'clean' install and reinstalling the several hundred mods I have.

Instructions on how to find the exe you need. In case you want to just restore back to your old version of exe file. After you do this, just make a backup copy of the skyrim se exe or whatever each time you update it, in case for when Butt-thesda invariably fucks you over again.

Thanks.

I made a zip of my entire sse install before letting Steam loose on it.

Also ran a diff between the before and after patch and now have a little archive of the changed files.

I know eventually I'll have to get the new version running, people are updating mods and eventually I'll need the updates.

I just wish there was one location for all log files and there was actually something that said "your game crashed because of xyz... go fix it".
