llokii70 Posted December 4, 2019 Posted December 4, 2019 Good Evening All, I have what I hope is an easy question. I was loading up SE today and I was putting in the dll plugin loader, binkw64.dll. I had a typo and did not notice it. I ran skse64_loader it must try to make a call somewhere where the wrong file name gets written because it now comes back with an error stating, "failed to load blinkw_64.dll...blahblahblahblah". This is the name of the backup file. How can I fix this so it goes back to blinkw64.dll.  Thanks
Just Don't Posted December 5, 2019 Posted December 5, 2019 You just need to follow the instructions given in the description: Â 1. Go to your Skyrim Special Edition root directory. This is the same folder where SkyrimSE.exe is, usually "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim Special Edition\"2. Rename "binkw64.dll" to "binkw64_.dll" <- now there's a _ at the end.3. Put the "binkw64.dll" from downloaded archive into the folder mentioned in step 1.4. If you did it correctly you should have two files in your folder now: "binkw64.dll" and "binkw64_.dll", that's all, you can start the game now. Â Seems like you didn't rename the original dll as it says. Do you have a "binkw64.dll" (from dll plugin loader) and a binkw64_.dll (the original one)? You should be fine if thats the case, unless the latest update made this dll obsolete (I doubt it tho).
llokii70 Posted December 5, 2019 Author Posted December 5, 2019 At first I did it exactly right but then I was still messing around loading things. Fired it up got a CTD in Helgen, probably due to my load order (Thank you Vortex for being such a pain to reorder things). Then somehow think I clicked on another executable and then that's when I first got the message then I tried copying the dll back over then renaming etc. Anyways believe it or not did a reboot on the box and it cleared it. I have this feeling eventually I am going to have to go to MO2. Not a big fan of it and while vortex's interface looks nice and I like the conflict feature. I hate the way it does load order and the choice of either the rule system, god awful and as far as I know the only other choice is to try and turn off autosort and order by mod index which doesnt guarantee load order.
llokii70 Posted December 5, 2019 Author Posted December 5, 2019 In fact just had a another CTD just now. I wish I could easily move things over to MO2 without having to reload everything. NMM the dev on that has been less than stellar. Last stable build since the split was like 65.2 or something like that.
