Auto Installer Trouble

So, every time I try to install/update my Wicked Whims files, I always try the installer after adding the files.
9/10, it says this:

"

Access is denied.

Game Mods Folder: "C:\Users\carol\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\Mods"
Access denied
The system cannot find the file specified.
Current Game Version: ""
Could Not Find C:\WINDOWS\System32\Config.log

Could Not Find C:\WINDOWS\System32\X

"

I'm not entirely sure what this means, but I do have a guess.
If it's talking about the config log for The Sims 4, I have it right in the Sims 4 folder, and I haven't touched it since I installed the Sims 4, that I remember. Before Discover University was added, it would commonly tell me this, but, after I tried redownloading the files (and I did make sure to remove them beforehand, although sometimes I forgot to that, I think) a few times, it would eventually give me the "Do you want to install Wicked Whims?" green-light message. Then I would say yes, and the mod would be up and running when I tried playing.
It's not doing that now, though, and, since I'm rather sick at the moment, I just don't have the patience to deal with this (after trying redownloading WickedWhims 30 some odd times with the v147b). I wouldn't be posting this now, either, if the attempt I just did to download v147c had worked.

I'm sure it's something that I'm doing wrong, so I'd love someone to call me out on what I'm doing so I can get the mod to work. :/
And ill include more information if needed... I imagine I'm not being the most clear right now (because of the forming headache that started about an hour ago), so I apologize.

(I've also had crashing issues when the game loads, and when I try to actually play the game [CAS works just fine], so ill try to update Nisa's Wicked Perversions, seeing as it looks like it's recently had an update)

I don't trust the installer for exactly that reason.

I've never used the installer because I want to make sure I only copy just the 2 files needed to the location I want.

Easier to not have to look around to see where they went or got put somewhere else that could mess up other things.

And I sure don't want duplicate versions hiding out.

Many mods were broken so it might take some time to hunt them all down for updates.

Some older ones may never get updated.

Game crashing is usually caused by a bad mod of course.

Yeah... I suppose it'd be safer to wait until, at least, the end of the month to try redownloading stuff.
Are there any big mods specifically on Loverslab I should be looking out for? I believe my main ones are Nisas, KinkyWhims, WickedWhims (of course), and then there's Basemental Drugs for Nisas, but I checked that recently and there's only the Sept 10 patch (or maybe a different date, but basically before University).

But on the topic of the actual WW mod, I'll just try manually installing it from this point on. That leaves the only issue as the crashing one, but I'll check and see if I can locate the problem there.
It's definitely a mod of mine, seeing as I tried disabling them and hopping on to the game (which worked perfectly), so I'll try some things out to see which one it is.

Basemental doesn't really depend on having any other Mods, i.e., it's a standalone mod.

The others mentioned are all dependent upon WW.

Whenever WW has updates there is a pretty good chance those other mods might bug out.

Most of the other minor mods are usually the problem if/when the game crashes, provided all those mods above are all up to date and working.

Process of elimination till you find the culprit/s.
