Converting a Follower from LE

If I read the information on Nexus correctly, all I have to do to convert a follower from LE is load the LE mod in the SE Creation Kit, fiddle with it enough to convince the CK I've done something and save it. Is that really it?

 

Since I have follower mods that include dependency on SexLab and SL Aroused Redux, would I have to do anything special with the parts (primarily script fragments) that call on these mods or will it simply naturally evolve into requiring the SE versions?

It can not be done like that, you have to optimize mesh. I never use CK for porting, it just causes problems, all you need is a NIF Optimizer

Very well. Where do I find such an animal and how do I use it? Or alternatively, where can I find a tutorial describing said optimizer and it's use?

 

And, as a throwaway question, why is that method what is listed on Nexus if it can not be done in that manner?

CK used to re-save the plugin from 43 to 44 version, for which there is no justifiable reason, all my ports are 43 and they work without problems.
