Zipped mod Timestamps

Biggie moderator I am not,

So I cannot request that package files have the revision in the name, and it would probably break something anyway, that's my guess.

 

Timestamps become extremely important, then, especially with some updates arriving twice a day.

 

But the built-in windows unzipper, which I love (It pretends like it's explorer) and don't want to throw out,

*always* changes the timestamp of my zipped files to the current time, the time that I am unzipping them.

 

If there are any windows 10 experts out there who know the magic ctrl-key, registry key, etc to preserve the timestamps in the zip file, 

I'd appreciate it.

If your solution is to get a new "free" unzipper, nevermind.

I've been told I write unclearly, so I will restate:

A mod author might make a zip file with several packages.

When I copy the packages to my mods directory, the timestamps are changed.

I'd rather the timestamps were the same as the ones in the zip file.

Using windows 10, is there a way to preserve timestamps?

The reality is that there are many archive-programs, but I only like the way windows handles zipfiles,

just as if they were a subdirectory.

Now if only they''d leave the timestamps alone.

and for future posters who nag me about  windows in a sims forum, please understand that I don't care except for sims packages.

I went back into some zipfiles and began experimenting.

I think "7zip" does what I want, and it will have to do.

I was hoping against hope someone knew some built-in windows way.

As far as I am aware the answer to this is no.  It has to be done with something else, it was something I was wanting a few years ago when doing some work, the time stamps had to be a certain date/time for what was wanted, I could never find anything withing windows itself to do this, I ended up going for an outside freeware program to do it, the name of which I can no longer remember several years down the line, those two programs I posted links to seem to be the best bet for it.

 

If there is a way in windows hopefully somebody else will post it, but I am pretty much sure you are out of luck.

 

Although you could possible set the pc clock to what ever time and date you wanted copy/move or unzip the file and then set it back to the correct time, that may work, but I would not hold my breath so to speak.
