Demonwise Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 Ok well this is a new one to me. I recently re-installed Oblivion off of Steam and started to re-install all of my old mods. After I had them all installed and then double and triple checked that the load order was correct I tried to start the game. It promptly crashed upon startup. So I methodically started to disable the various mods and restarting the game. Every time I restarted the game it crashed on startup. It got to the point where every single mod was disabled and yet the game still was crashing. Not knowing what to do I backed up the entire Ovlivion folder and then re-downloaded the entire game. This time I didn't install any mods. Perfectly fresh installation. Go to start the game. Crash on startup. As I said this is a new one to me. There is no error message that I can see it just stops responding and closes. I know this is a fairly vague problem but can anyone give me a hand? EDIT: In customary fashion when all goes wrong with the world, I restarted the computer. That did nothing to help the problem.
gregathit Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 go and delete your oblivion.ini file in your my documents folder and then try to start the game again.
perfectioncat Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 If a game does not start in the state that nothing introduces MOD into normally, I think that you should check a game in the place that you purchased. Nobody can help you in the state that a product does not act on.
Demonwise Posted January 21, 2013 Author Posted January 21, 2013 go and delete your oblivion.ini file in your my documents folder and then try to start the game again. You are friggin genious! Oh I could hug you! Oh I suppose I should mention that your suggestion worked.
