Help with Devious Equipment for oldrim please

So I've spent the better part of a day trying to get Devious Equipment to work. I followed all of the instructions on the page, downloaded all the prerequisites, did a batch build build in Bodyslide using the UNP HDT for outfit body and UUNP-UNP for the preset. I even ticked the box to build morphs.  I can get some of the items to work such as armbinders, all the gags, clit piercings, and yokes. I can also get a few of the corsets and pet suits to show up in game, and all the collars seem to work fine as well as the butt plugs and vag plugs. However everything else is completely broken. I've reinstalled the mod, I've done everything I can in the MCM menu, including resetting Devious Equipment and registering tags. But nothing works. I can't get bras to show up at all, along with any harness's, wrist cuffs, or leg cuffs. And they all fail in different ways too, which is really confusing. The wrist and leg cuffs don't register whatsoever on my character, as in my character's running speed will remain the same with leg cuffs and with the wrist cuffs my character walks around with her arms swinging like nothing's changed (I haven't tried opening doors or looting anything yet, though I probably should have done that before posting here, however it's late and I need to get to bed and I want to get this posted so I can get some suggestions sooner rather than later), but they'll show up in my inventory and I have to struggle or pick the lock to get them off. Nipple rings, harness's, and bras act the same way as the cuffs where they won't even show up but the game acts like they are there. Again these are all checked in BodySlide. 

 

Now suits and masks are a whole different thing, they will simply make my body dissappear. The masks I can't find in BodySlide so I'm sure that has something to do with that, however the catsuits and elegant dresses all show up and same thing. I put the mask on my head goes invisible, even though I get a flash of the mask before it vanishes. The body suits and dresses will make my torso disappear, and like I said, those actually show up in the build list when I batch build in BodySlide, and before anyone asks, yes they are checked when I batch build.


Also the Devious Devices mods seems to conflicting with SL Defeat. I had previously Defeat working perfectly, I tested all of it's features and it worked exactly like it was supposed to, (a rather monumental feat for me considering the last time I tried modding Skyrim, about 3 or 4 years ago, I couldn't get it to work right for the life of me. Back in the day it kept conflicting with BeeingFemale, but now I have a better PC and am a little more savvy, in that I knew better than to throw in a ton of unrelated mods before testing them). But now about 50% of the time when I test Defeat, with or without DD equipment on my character and the bandits get stuck in limbo after the scene is over, where my character will just lay on the ground and the bandit will stand over her indefinitely. The longest I've let it go was 10 minutes before either closing the game or resetting Defeat (that always fixes it but they start attacking me the moment I do it, so I don't like to if I don't have to since I'm always dead before Defeat fully refreshes and is functional again). 

 

It's probably worth mentioning that I'm using Vortex for my mod manager, not sure if that's part of the problem. I just went with them so I didn't have to relearn LOOT and Wrye Bash, I did not enjoy having to use those tools lol. The last time I hated NMM so I went with MO, however I do like the way Vortex functions and it's much more user friendly than NMM and MO ever were. I really don't want to switch to MO2 because getting to this point was a 2 week process of pretty much neglecting all other projects (which include but aren't limited to cleaning my damn apartment, playing Zelda BOTW, finally devoting a decent amount of time the Witcher 3....I am never ever modding that game lol, writing poems and a novel...I really should not be neglecting that one as it's very therap, and binging Netflix with my roomate.) and even calling into work one day. I really wanna get this to work, all I want is to be able to run around in my little fantasy world role playing my favorite kink every now and then, but I also want realistic consequences (hence BeeingFemale, and IF I get this all to work STD's, Frostfall which is already installed albeit deactivated while I test other mods, and Realistic Needs & Diseases). So if someone has any idea what may be my issue here please help, I'm so close to my modding goal I can taste it. If I have to go to MO2 the process will take month's because I won't be able to download more than one mod a day (I cannot be staying up late and neglecting the rest of my life for another 2 weeks). Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

I should mention that I tried adding Devious Captures at the same time as Equipment because I thought "Captures in an add-on to Defeat so it shouldn't be that big of a deal", that's when Defeat stopped working properly. I have since uninstalled Captures but I'm having the same issues, even when I load a save from well before I added Captures. The problem with Defeat did get better though (with Captures my player got stuck in limbo every single time and the animations were all out of wack), but I tested it dozens of times before without any issue. I made sure to test this mod with every single new mod because of how impossible it was for me to get it to work last time.

That's one wall of text to say that Devious Devices or the requirements aren't installed right ?

Also no Load Order and no FNIS output => those often help more than the information that NMM was too hard on you ^^

 

Okey first:

If DD isn't installed right then Devious Captures won't work right and that could break your SLdefeat scenes.

 

Check all requirements:

Devious Devices - Assets Version (DDa)

Devious Devices - Integration (DDi)

Devious Devices - Extension (DDx)
SexLab 1.6+
SexLab Aroused Redux

Bodyslide and Outfit Studio => UUNP or CBBE

XPMSE (includes Ragdoll and force) => make sure it doesn't get overwritten, unless you know why you want to overwrite it

PapyrusUtil 3.3 => make sure it doesn't get overwritten

SkyUI

RaceMenu (includes Nioverride)

FNIS

HDT Physics (unless you use AIO HDT Pussy)

 

To help you even better a LO would be great, I think you can export it via Vortex, if not export it via Loot (don't be scared you can just use it to export the LO).

FNIS output would help too, just copy paste everything from the generator, incl the warnings.

 

On a new game DDi needs at least one save/reload cycle to update itself

Thank you, I do believe that XPSME did get overwritten (and possibly Papyrus as well), I was assuming that since some of the DD mods rely on them they should load after them. So I'm going to reinstall both mods and see if that doesn't resolve my issue. 


Also sorry for the wall of text. Like I said this is my second time attempting this so I'm not really sure what info's relevant to achieve what I want, so I just wanna make sure all bases are covered. Also I tend to be rather long-winded when I get behind a keyboard (i.e. full on Facebook essays to say something I could have said in a single tweet).

 

And yes, I did mean DDe, I don't think Devious Equipment is actually a thing. I don't have time to test out the reinstalation this morning. But I'll post here later today if it worked or not. I do have all the other requirements though. SLAR I got right away, that one was kind of needed to make the other mods truly immersive for me.

The logic would be, if the mods relay on some functions of PapyrusUtil, you have to make sure it doesn't get modified.

Or on NMM this would mean: don't let parts or all of them overwritten

what is everything else?

Rope bondage?

If you use an older DDx version you can find those in bodyslide > group > "unassigned"

 

for building DDa, DDx bodyslides you should tick the boxes related to them in "groups"

if not sure, just rebuild everything in bodyslide

 

don't forget to run FNIS again after that

Means if DDa, DDx bodyslide failed, so will DDe devices.

and don't get confused with DD and ZAZ bondage items,

new ZAZ versions come with bodyslides too (ZAZ 8, ZAZ 8+), you find them in bodyslide > groups > "unassigned"

Although your right, Skyrim modding can be a drama of epic proportions! ?

Also I fear I have developed ADD if it comes to tech issues and only search for key words ?

I checked the lightning box next to PapyrusUtil and it showed that Campfire was overwriting it. So I switched it to load after Campfire. Hopefully that solves some of my issues.

I think the modmanager type would be Vortex, unless there's something obvious I'm missing, which is entirely possible lol. 

I have snips of my FNIS output and my LO I'll include, not sure if that will help. I don't know how to export it yet, I'm watching all of Gopher's tutorial's on Vortex hoping he cover's it. If not I'll simply install Loot and do it that way. 

I'll get some screenshots, although those may not be up until tomorrow sometime. But it's the weekend now so it'll definitely get done.

I have no idea how to get a papyrus log. I found a file called 'papyruslog' in my game file. But I couldn't open it. I considered trying to open it with 7zip but decided better of it until I know exactly what I'm doing (the last thing I want is to have to uninstall and reinstall everything again).

Everything else includes rope bondage, harness's, bodysuits, zipsuits, chastity belts, bras, nipple piercings, cuffs, masks, and some other stuff I can't remember. Some of these items don't show up on my character at all, some make parts of her body disappear, and some only work after tinkering with Zaz Animations. They all show up in my inventory after equipping them in the MCM and act as if they equipped and are a pain to get off if I forgot to uncheck 'Hardcore Mode'. 

 

The armbinders all show up, but only work properly after I've tinkered with the Zaz Slots Menu in MCM, then they work fine, until my character enters a sex scene, then she has half her arms come out of the binders. Yoke's for some strange reason work perfectly with sex scenes, however I still need to tinker with Zaz Slots to get her to actually put her hands in the yoke, otherwise she just walks around with a long pole wrapped around her neck like nothing's out of the ordinary. 

 

I will compile a more comprehensive list of what's broken and how with screenshots, however it may take me until tomorrow to get it uploaded. But it's the weekend so it'll definitely get done. It's kinda hard to explain it perfectly off of pure memory.

I'm still learning the ins and outs of BodySlide, I really like the potential this tool has and eventually want to create my own custom body. However one step at a time, for right now all I really do is select 'Unified UNP HDT' in the 'Outfit/Body' dropdown, then 'UUNP-UNP' in the Presets dropdown. I'm not sure if that's the exact model I should use but it seems to be the closest to what I actually have installed (I have to use Unified UNP with BeeingFemale). After I have that selected I always check the morphs box then batch build. I always run FNIS after that, but I do leave BodySlide open while I run it and when I start the game through SKSE. I'm not sure if I'm supposed to do that, but no guide I have found mentions anything about closing the program while you play the game. So I figure it's safer to leave it open, although I could be wrong, or it may not matter either way, idk lol.

This raises a question, am I only supposed to have menu in MCM for DDi and DDe? Because I have DDa, DDx, DDi, and DDe installed, I would have thought all 4 came with an MCM, but I'm only getting 2. If I'm supposed to have all 4 I'll have to uninstall all 4 mods and reinstall one at a time, testing them to make sure they are working perfectly before moving on the next (probably what I should have done in the first place, but I really wanted Devious Capture...although now I'm thinking I may leave that one out and swap it for a different post defeat mod such as Simple Slavery.

I always run them through Vortex, I'm not savvy enough to manage them independently. Even back when I used MO I'm pretty sure they were launched from inside the program.

I don't, however it's probably worth noting that I can't get ZAZ 8 to work right. Whenever I install that version it either doesn't register over ZAZ 7, or if I unintall ZAZ 7 like the instructions say, I get a message from Vortex that DD is missing masters. For whatever reason neither ZAZ 8, ZAZ 8+, nor any subsequent patches add the plugin ZazAnimationPack.esm, I can only get that to show up with 7.

Don't worry about it, I'm just happy to have some help on this. I honestly didn't notice how much text I had in the OP until I read it from my phone earlier today and had to scroll for half a minute to get to your replies lol. On my laptop the wide screen made it hard to notice how much I had actually typed. I tend to do the same thing, just skim for 'need to know' information because I find reading instructions to be tedious, time consuming, and boring lol, I just wanna get my mod installed, working, and move onto the next one lol. Anyways, thank you for the help, it's very much appreciated.

> "until my character enters a sex scene, then she has half her arms come out of the binders" => that's normal for DD armbinders, only way to prevent this is to use the DDi animation filter, so only animations get chosen that are armbinder compatible (because hands get hidden while wearing an armbinder)

 

Here a cute animation how to use bodyslide:

1. set the preset

2. chose the groups you want to build (in your case all DD related groups)

3. tick "build morphs"

4. click batch build

I guess you are talking about DDe now?

After deactivating the hardcore mode in DDe save the MCM, like that you can just load the last MCM settings on a new game.

 

ZAZ = Zaz animation pack, now unrelated to DDi, still related to DDa

DDi = the brain of the DDa,x serie, adds animation and the DD MCM, DDa,i,x work without ZAZ

DDa = assets, devices need to be build in bodyslide, no MCM

DDx = assets extended, devices need to be build in bodyslide, no MCM

DDe = new textures for DDa,x and offers alternative functions for DDe devices, also is able to remove DDs, depending on your settings in DDe MCM only affects DDe devices

Why would you do that? : O

You couldn't be more wrong xD

If two programs effect the same file only one might be able to modify it.

I don't use vortex, but that's how I would do it:

> build outfits via bodyslide -started from vortex- and close bodyslide after it's done

> run FNIS from vortex and close it after it's done

> start skyrim via vortex

DDi is unrelated to zaz now, you can't get a missing master from DD like that.

DDe on the other hand still needs ZAZ.

only install one ZAZ version

ZAZ 7 or ZAZ 8 or ZAZ 8+

zaz 8 and zaz 8+ already include zaz 7

if you download zaz8 or zaz8+ from LL remember this are only txt files that inclue the link to download the real files

I saw you have PECA installed, you have any mods that support it?

If not deinstall PECA and try if that helps with your DD animation issues.

 

Just saw you have flower girls installed, I doubt you need that if you have SLF (SexlabFramework) installed.

Not sure what happens if those girls start their own animations while SLF starts an animation ?‍♂️

The mod is more of interest if you don't want to use SLF.

You should be able to export a post-able LO like that.

It's tedious to work through pictures : (

 

I'll figure that out eventually, I figured the snips might not help as much. But thought it might give at least a working understanding of my situation while I figure it out.
Yes LOOT is integrated into Vortex, but I'm not sure if I can access it directly the way I could if I manually downloaded it. But I'll try to find a way without doing that first.

The mod is more of interest if you don't want to use SLF.

I"m pretty sure that's a patch for BeeingFemale. I wasn't sure what all I needed so I just downloaded it. I'll disable it and see if that helps at all.

AAAHHHHH, careful patches for mods you don't have installed can mess things up.

Also this should have an effect on your DD items.

Well, I'm a bit stunned by this but the consensus on Vortex seems to be that there currently is no way to export your load order through it https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/6712292-sharing-mod-listmod-order/page-2. Had I known this at the start I would have gone with MO2. While Tannin does plan to add the feature in the future, right now literally the only way is to use Windows 10's snipping tool. I guess that's on me for using a mod manager that's still in beta. The whole reason I got it is because it's sold as doing most of the tedious work for you, but I can get that through MO 2 and LOOT. Some of the things it suggested did effect my game negatively (i.e. Campfire overwriting Papyrus). If I can't get this to work by the end of this weekend I'm gonna have to start over with MO2. Next week is gonna be a tutorial overload lol.

alternative: start loot from desktop and export like that, although I read somewhere it might not fit your vortex LO.

Just try it and see what you get =D

I may or may not have gone looking for it because BeeingFemale made it an option when installing it, so I thought it would make it run smoother. BeeingFemale was like the 1st major mod I installed so that was awhile ago, sorry :S
