Any ways to do sandbox playthrough yet?

I've played FO4 on and off but it never last long since there isn't much to do if you avoid the main quest and faction quests. Even trying to play like a mercenary or bounty hunter doesn't really work since (1) even with mods, there aren't that many places to get bounties and (2) money doesn't mean much in FO4, even for gear which you craft and upgrade with scrap materials rather than money.

 

Problem #2 might be fixable if there was a mod like Skyrim's "Honed Metal" or "I don't want to be a blacksmith" mods, but I haven't seen anything like that for FO4. And problem #1 is there just isn't much to do.

 

It's been a while since I last played, but has anything changed in the modding scene to address this problem?

Not sure what to tell you.

In Fallout 4, your basically going to be Nate/Nora, that's it...

Even the attempts to change that usually break the game, since its so built in to everywhere.

 

So your options are,

Ignoring it,

Downloading mods

Now there are a lot of mods that add more quests and things to go do and the thing is I don't know all of them but there are definitely a lot of them around already.

Off the top of my head is Frost, basically rips out the whole game, may not be finished and of course the game doesn't even play the same or anything like Fo4...You have no goals other than see how long you survive as far as I know.

 

You might try Sim Settlements Conqueror,

Your still Nate/Nora but you are focused on taking over the Commonwealth as a Raider and playing their content which is surprisingly well done and voice acted.  From my watching their videos mind you.

 

You might try waiting, afterall there are many large mod teams making content...

examples such as,

Fo3, FNV both are being remade.

Fallout Miami, you play as Nate/Nora in Miami

Cascadia, You play as their protagonist in Canada...Yup you will play well who ever it is that they have in mind, may not be voiced its still an earlish project.

Fallout London, play as an English person in London....Not going to be voiced

 

Now bear in mind, all of those your basically going to be playing a personality that is to some degree already defined.

 

None of those are out yet, still in the works.

 

Then of course, you could go to Nexus and search quests and locations...

Well the thing is the PC backstory is everywhere in the base game. Though you might try alternate starts mod and there is also a mod I've seen ages ago that made the game snowy or something and replaced everything either with ghouls/zombies, I just can't remember the name or its exact description sorry but I remember it replaced everything to make the game feel much different. But I understand it doesn't fit the bill.
