I am occasional CTD's and by occasional they are not that far apart. If it was like after 3 hours of playing or more I would be like okay. I was going to look at the papyrus logs however they did not seem to be generating. Yes I know about the lines in Skyrim.ini. Speaking of Skyrim. ini there is one in my profile, one in steam/steamapps/common/skyrim special edition, and lastly one in steam/steamapps/common/skyrim special edition/skyrim. I have debug currently turned off but can turn it back on. I actually turned a bunch of mods off just to see if it was too much script heavy stuff. And debug does go in skyrim.ini not skyrimprefs correct

My last question is around game saves. I know steam uses cloud saves. Are there no savegames stored locally as I can't seem to find them.

If they are only in the cloud how do I see them outside the game or can I not?

Your saves should be in your documents\my games\skyrim\saves

If you mod your game, turn off steam cloud.

The Ini file, there should be one in the game folder, but the game dont use it.

What modding tool do you use?

Either disable steam cloud if modding, or take a look through your mods for outdates versions, conflicting mods, load order, dirty mods and such. Can use LOOT and TES5Edit for that.

I had a CTD issue and it turned out the DLC's were dirty. Cleaned them up with TES5Edit and havent had an issue since.

Yeah have most the tools. I use NMM. Was honestly unaware of the whole steam cloud thing which is embarassing considering I have worked in IT forever and a day. I will have to go in and turn it off. I do not have any saves in the path listed above. If Skyrim does not use the ini the game folder how do you turn on Papyrus logs. Is there an ini setting in NMM? I'll have to look but I have cleaned the files with SSEdit auto clean, use loot. In this case I believe it is either an issue with one of mods or just that things poss are too script heavy. I am not sure if there is even a way to really measure that. Of course it could also be some sort of conflict between two mods.

Correction found the save folder so that is there....sorry needed to actually look into the My Games folder. Which is strange because SE has so many folders within the user profile.

My saves have some crazy ass long names though. Example below:

It's funny because there is also a Skyrim Special Edition folder directly under my documents which I am starting to think is not used at all and a Skyrim Special Edition folder under AppData\Local
