(Solved!) How would I go about using Tes5Edit to lower a "Master Spells" cast time?

Specifically Ordinators hidden spell "Exhume/Bury Skeleton" spell. For some reason, that a mere mortal such as myself could never understand, Enai decided to give this spell that is supposed to be for convenience, a 4-6 cast time.. I would like to use my limited modding knowledge to edit Ordinator to make this spell instant cast. The weird thing is, while it is a Master Spell, it also is a lesser power at the same time. It uses the Master Spell casting animation, but does not actually occupy any hands. If anyone could explain the method of changing a lesser power such as this to have an instant cast time, it would be appreciated. In the mean time, I will be fiddling around, trying myself.

 

Also while it might be suggested, I won't be using CK. I am terrible with that program and it often crashes. From what I have done, Tes5Edit can do everything that I could do in CK.

 

Edit#1: So I found "ConBarrowLord" under "Spells" in Tes5edit. I changed the "Charge time" from 5-0. Is there any other form I need to edit? Like the perk itself? All I have edited so far was the spell itself. I am looking through the perks, but I am not seeing it (I know a perk exists, because I had to add it to my character through console in order to use the hidden Bury/Exhume spell.

 

Edit#2: Okay so I found a reference under "Magic Effect" which is also to do with Bury/Exhume. I edited the charge time there to be 0 as well. Wondering if there are anymore references I will need to edit to make this spell an instant cast...

 

Edit#3: After making these two changes, I CTD on loading my save. So I obviously did something wrong.

 

Edit#4: The CTD might be unrelated. I reverted my changes on Ordinator, and its still CTDing. So it could be unrelated.

Changing stats in tes5edit can break the mod if you change variables that something relies on. I would reinstall the mod and get Speed casting. SKSE plug with an ini for customization that works with mod spells too. Brought my spell charges to instant, and master spells to about .5 seconds. Only downside is npcs speed cast too but makes for some awesome visuals at night during magic battles, or dragon fights. Looks like a ww2 scene during a bombing raid. pretty crazy.

Thanks for the suggestion. I reloaded a prior save and was able to load it properly, so what I am guessing is that my latest few saves somehow got corrupted. I have over 200 plugins, so something probably went wrong (maybe Scent of Sex was in the middle of a scene or its my PSQ).

 

My most recent save file loads properly, even with the edited Ordinator.esm

 

I also figured out how to change the spell to a "voice" instead of a masterspell lesser power. Everything seems to be working alright. Just can't explain why my last 3 saves got corrupted. I think its unrelated to my edits to Ordinator.

 

I briefly looked through other forms for anything to do with Bury/Exhume, and didn't see anything. I don't think changing the spell to a voice and lowering cast time should effect anything else. 

 

With that said, I seem to have figured out how to edit this ESM without any assistance. I guess I am smarter than I thought (yay!). If I notice any other save files not loading, I will check out your suggestion as an alternative solution.

There are normally 2 places (there can be more just 2 is normal) where cast time is a thing.

The Spell and the Magic Effect.

Both have to pretty obvious names as you've seen.

 

Sometimes I find it better to not use the "master" cast animation as its pretty long winded.

You can change it by changing the equipment type from both hands to either hand.

 

If you really want the spell to be a quick cast its best to set it as a shout rather than a spell (like using hands spell and shit)

 

All handheld spell in skyrim all have a charge mechanic no vanilla spell is really click fire.

Except shouts, shouts are quick casts which is nice.

Change the Equipment type to voice and the charge type to lesser power.
