Which features should online games deliver these days, this question is fragile because less features limits the customer range who could use (buy) them. Here in special i am interested in the 20 years old IPv6 protocol that create a point2point connection from gamers PC to the server.

I HATE online compulsion, therefore no voting from me!
when the development of the games, all with online platforms, so goes on, then I will switch to a console!
most games are developed for consoles anyway, some even exclusive. :classic_wink:

Oops yes sure i have to provide further information about the internet connect type, so open this page

IP link test

For 1 you only see IPv4,

For 2  dualstack or ds-lite you see IPv4 and IPv6

For 3 ds-lite you see it in the IPv4 hostname as for example: .86.ds-lite.lsn-5.ipv4.

Does this affect gaming consoles? Yes for example my X-Box One

1. In the X-Box games will use IPv4

2. The X-Box system put them into a IPv6 tunnel called teredo

3. The teredo back end sits in the US

4. The packages return from the US as IPv4

5. Reach the IPv4 gameserver in Europe

Reality: Ping 100ms and from that gaming impossible

Could be : Use IPv6 end2end what can be below 10ms ping from 500km distance and shorter routing.

Don't assume that the Playstation do better, no IPv6 support in PS3 and PS4, let's guess for the PS5?
