Custom "Midna" Companion Request/Commission?

This is a rather far-fetched request/commission, but I'm hoping someone'll hear me out.

 

As anyone who has played Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess is aware, Midna is the twili imp companion that follows you throughout the game. Essentially what I'm shooting for is her in Skyrim, preferably with more up to date model and textures. The reason for it being in the adult section is namely because of what I had in mind:

 

 

 

 

 

Just to give an idea of what it is I'm after.

 

The specifics of what I'm going for:

- A custom floating animation based on the games would be a big plus, though if a stock one must be used that is acceptable.

 

- Maybe some jiggle physics where appropriate?

 

- When spoken to she uses her voice clips from the games. This is easily done and offers a great advantage, as it won't require custom dialogue: most of her lines seem to simply be gibberish anyways.

 

If you wish to be payed for the work:

- If you wish to take up the commission approach, I'm willing to hear what your desired asking point is. Please keep it within reason.

 

- You can post the companion and do fuckall with it, I don't mind as long as I get what it is I asked for. Though if you disappear from the face of the planet, I reserve the right to re-post it.

 

- I won't pay until I have some proof that the project is being done. There's two possible approaches to this:

 

1. You gradually show me progress, and I pay you as progress goes on. But you must supply me with whatever progress you had made in case you decide you're finished.

2. I pay you once the project is done and an upload is provided.

 

We can discuss further details if need be, but in either case I'd greatly appreciate if someone could take this up.

My intentions were to find someone who could do the imp Midna companion, then later commission someone to do "Princess" Midna followed by me probably trying to create a questline to accompany the mod itself.

That would actually be greatly appreciated, though problem is people don't seem too interested in the idea. Guess I'm going on a hunt to find someone'll who will be willing to do it.

I don't think that they aren't interested but that they can't pull it off themselves either. I don't really desperately need a Midna companion but of course would appreciate some variety instead of the same "cute girl" companions (which are nice but there are tons of them floating around already).

Sadly I don't know where else to go with the idea. I've seen some of the most talented modders here that all seem pretty level-headed, probably would have been a lot easier to work with too.

 

If anyone knows of a person/place I could go to for this, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Sorry to resurrect this, but I just wanted to quickly say I'm still looking for someone to take up the job. Currently I've got a budget of about $80 for the commission, and intend to look through the Nexus for someone who may undertake the task.

If I wanted to accomplish this task, I think I would split it into several parts, so that they might be completed independently:

 

First, there's the animations.  While many people aspire to do animation work, there are very few people in the modding community that are really good at it. (One issue here, in my opinion, is that animators have to work with tools which require deep conceptual models and painstaking work to achieve even "simple" effects.  But just thinking about how to give them better tools gets me in over my head.)

 

Second, there's the voice work.  Good voice work requires a quiet environment and good recording equipment, but may also require your approval or something.  So voice work might have a larger supply of talent than animation work, but there's going to be a big personal rejection risk on the part of people that might be interested here. 

 

You might have some file format issues, here.  And, then there's lip syncing.  Skyrim has a phonetic representation system for faces so someone could build up the lipsync aspects to work with the voice files, and there's some painstaking details here (picking the right expressions is the "easy" part - how long do they last?)  I forget if there are any really great tools for this (and my memories are from early last year, when I looked at this stuff, so I might be overlooking an important issue).

 

And then there's the modding work itself -- the scripting.  I imagine that there's a moderate number of people that are capable of doing this, and might even be interested in doing so, but quite likely without the skills to pull off the other phases of the project.

 

And, finally, there's pulling this all together.  Hypothetically speaking, your odds of getting something happening are greater if you are willing to find and address the little issues which do not fall into any of these categories, and maybe even stepping in and trying to make these jobs easier.  There's also some risks here, for you to do something about - what if you can find a person for one of these categories but not others? What if you find someone and then while waiting for another person the first person becomes occupied by another project and can no longer spend the time?  What if you find someone and they think they can do it but part way through they get stuck and they do not know how to characterize their problem?  What if...

 

So, ... you have a nice outline here, it's relatively specific and the underlying concept sounds implementable.  But I think there's good solid reasons that you've had no activity on this for a something like year.

based on the breakdown that sen4mi gave, if you want to PAY someone for it, you're looking at a pretty fair amount of work worth quite a bit more than $80.

• The model could probably start with an existing female body mod. Otherwise, it's a horrendous amount of work.
• Body texture would be very much the same, but you're still doing quite a bit of pixel pushing to make it good.
• There are a very few people that animate for skyrim at all, let alone well.
• The voice work is probably the easiest part, but the lip syncing would not be.
• Scripting wouldn't be horrible. I would think basic follower scripting would cut it. . . unless you're doing something other than existing skyrim spells/effects (or using existing mods)

When it's all pulled together, at minimum you're looking at a custom race with several deep customizations that require competence in several arenas of game dev and skyrim modding.

 

It's the kind of thing that someone with passion for the goal would take the time to do and enjoy doing it. And the bottom line is that when you replace passion with money, you'd better have a lot of money. After completion, someone with passion would be put-off if it wasn't played. Someone with money would buy beer and not care.

 

On the other hand, you can absolutely get all the tools and take time to build it yourself. 3dsmax is free for people that want to learn, and there's tons of tutorials about how to twiddle it's various bits (google is your friend). 

 

The guy that can do these things already, I'd say you're probably looking at minimum 100 hours of work... modelling, texturing, animating, voicing, scripting, compiling to skyrim, and all the bugtesting that it requires. But . . . for someone that's going to make a mod of this depth and they're starting out by getting a 3dsmax license and reading/watching tutorials, it's quite a daunting task.

 

Just trying to set your expectations with a little reality. I wish you luck.

I want to see a color friendly version of Link as a follower or companion. I think that would be neat I've search High and Low and many people want it but no one wants to do it. I have no knowledge or experience with ck past a basic follower with grey face issues.
