But I really wonder if they aren't also a huge factor in the slowdown of Skyrim modding since everybody has to fear that releasing a mod could get him/her banned for some random bullshit and at the same time can't really afford to be banned because the Nexus is still the biggest site for Skyrim mods.

i do think that nexus is going to take a fall as they are going after a lot of major mods people are using. If he did rip content to his mod they probably should have told him/her to remove that content in a patch within X time not outright ban it. but I went to VGU and bookmarked his page so im good

and he will be adding alot of monsters that he could not add because of nexus. so if you got monster models or know where to get some let him know.

The funny thing is,

You can still get:

-Skymomod addon mods

-translations

-the alternate "lore-friendly" packs

and all that other fun stuff associated/cloned from Dogtowns mod, just not their upload of it.

 

I can understand nexus' strict standing on stuff, but the lack of consistence in the way they handle it, makes it look like they just randomly decide to crap on people.

 

Anyway thanks to the op. At least we know where to get updates and such on the mod.

I got banned there not long ago because I was arguing that someone actually could have a legal copy of fallout even though he was asking for a method to play without steam in chat. I didn't realize there was chat rules. I only thought rules were for forum. LOL That was a stupid move I know and he would have been banned anyway even if he did have a legal copy.

he prolly wants the mod at vgu so its easier to keep up with than dealing with a bunch of file hosters. what im surprised at is why dont some of the LL modders pass a olive branch to VGU so modding resouces can be traded.

And it was the first time in ages that i downloaded the mod in 1 try, unlike nexus where it took ~80 tries and when i finally got V9, V10 was out.

I talked with a couple of the moderators before and it seems that their reasons to ban people is actually not butthurt or jealousy but the fear that the companies with the copyrighted materials will come to the website and shut them down even if it's only for one mod out of the 10000 on that site (they have the right to). They are very afraid of the repercussion, so they decided to enforce this nazi-like environment in order to save their own asses.

maybe' date=' maybe...if you followed dogtownO1 mods, that i'm sure you have your reason...if i remember correctly there is an angel park mod for FNV (not sure V1/V2) that add a huge worldspace and i mean frickin huge ! with new weapons and creatures..i enjoyed that mod alot and yes i'm also aware that his using assets from another game.

 

one day i just following the Angel Park user comments then i found a user saying about dogtownO1 is using his assets...that user name is "Millenia" ...well of course way before there were a red title saying "Moderator" under his name pfff.

Dont be, VGUnetwork or formerly known as F3Underground is great community forum, used to hang out there quiet often. many of cool mods too and talented modders as well. they just a bit protective about mod they made/have, yes some are using assets from another games but that doesnt mean user can reupload the mod somewhere else without crediting the author.

 

registration is no biggie i think, when i first joined, i guess its only 30 post within few days (i forgot how many) to get you access to non public download..even tho i come there in the first place for some well detailed tutorial from jackpack...good stuff for begginer modder

agreed, but posting in nexus will give you an optional/choices/variation or even improving the mod outside dogtownO1 works, which is lead to Monster wars, Monster New Items, Skyrim Monster Mod Replacers - Lore Friendly and Others e.t.c. not forgetting languange translation for foreign. but Nexus decided to broke the chain by taking off the main mod and that is just SUCKS !

oh ya i remember him too, i think it was in angel park V1 where he whining about sun valley assets was use, but i just dont get it, DogtownO1 was helping him with Sun Valley so why not just ask for permission to use his asset in return.

I know one think for the nexus people, not the moders and users but those who are owners and admins, those who control the nexus site, they are assholes and nazies, they banne people who made good mods for a small and simple mistake they made, some of those people may don't have alot of knowledge about some stupid rules and generaly about the internet, what to know about uploading.

So, those people do some mistakes and get banned without knowing why, without getting a warning and explanation about what they did and why not to do, without give them one chance to continue their modding.

I hate those bastards of nexus, they misunderstood me and believed a stupid liar bitch that i stole her mod! 0.0

I never stoled her mod, i collaborated with her to create the facemorph of Link for Dragon Age, i am the one who created his hair from Twilight Princess and i asked her to do his face, the half work is mine "the hair", i told her that i will upload it and say about our collaboration in description, she told me OK.

When i uploaded the mod, the next day she left a comment on the mod: "Well i never told you to upload the mod, but its fine, you may keep it...", the other next day i got banned for stealing a mod and they deleted that mod except my mod Links Hair, which now some moders are exploiting and using my mod in their mod like it's their mod, like: Devs Morphs and More, also that bitch mochie modified the hair and use it in her mod Ferelden Models.

I continue to make zelda mods for Dragon Age and a friend of me made the uploads for me, after some great zelda mods they banned him too, that bitch reported my friend with alot of lies, my friend was only uploading my mods i created, nothing else!

Now my mods are still on nexus without controling them and protecting them from real robbers, many people are downloading my mod without giving an endorsement, keeping mods from banned moders is stealing!

The owners and admins of nexus are the real robbers!

I wish one day their site will broke and close forever.

Well you could always have filed an appeal with their administrators if you felt obligated to. Obviously you need some kind of proof to it, and her saying "go ahead" was basically giving you the OK to do it so you had something to go off of.

 

The nexus is genuinely great and even better now than before with the addition of the mod manager especially. They are tough on the rules, but the rules are pretty straight forward which makes dogtown look like an idiot. Yes, he is a skilled modder, but disregarding copyrights could very well get any website shut down, especially if you are the most popular one. Not to mention it isn't necessary in the first place, at that point dogtown is getting greedy. He had plenty of assets as is. I don't think the concept of permissions is one that is very difficult to follow.
