sharonasbar12 Posted February 16, 2019 Posted February 16, 2019 No matter what game start I choose, "House of horrors" and the Mehrunes dagger quests won't start. I am up to level 25 or 30 and still the quest starter people are not there. I have tried a new vanilla game, live another life, and save game mods and nothing. I know I can manually start them thru the console, but I shouldn't have to. I do not have any mods that interfere with these quests. I only have the Usleep mod. Does anyone know why? Please help!

At that point a courier is supposed to arrive and give you the note saying there is a new museum in Dawnstar. Do you not receive the missive? The House of Horrors begins when you enter Markarth for the SECOND time. Are you saying that Vigilant Tyranus is not near the house (at first he's talking to Yngvar)? Have you looked around Markarth? Particularly after vampire attacks he's know to be elsewhere. I know you said that you are eschewing the use of the console but you could always use it to move him to your location to start the quest. If you have further questions feel free to post them but, you really ought to post a load order (preferably from LOOT and preferably in a spoiler) if you need to pursue this further.

If you've saved the load order to the clipboard then just come here and either 1) hit Ctrl+V to copy or 2) right click where you want to place the load order and choose "paste" from the pull down menu that will appear.

Have you received the missive from Jarl Siddgeir at level 8 for instance? Do you get notices when "friends" die and leave you money? 2) Any other problems with Vigilants of Stendarr? Have you been to their Hall (preferably before the vampires got there)? Any trouble with meeting them on the road? Are they showing up as random encounters on the road?

Come to think of it the jar;s siddgeir missive has only shown up once, quite a while back in another play thru. Yes, I do get inheritance letters. Vigilants are rare and only comment on passing.

Given the way the Quests work in the game there is no reason that what causes a problem with one Daedric Quest should cause a problem with another any more than a problem with a Thieves' Guild Quest impacting a Civil War Quest. To my mind, the issue is twofold: 1) what is impacting the courier and 2) what is impacting Vigilant Tyranos. As things stand now I have no clear cut answer. As I said, I don't know a large number of your mods and have only looked at a few so far in order to get an answer.
