Going insane with crashes

I've patched and then installed skins via the install guide here.

Everything worked fine I was able to start the game, create character and even load saved games. I then proceeded to install cm partners and all the partners I have saved up with the races to allow them to run. Now every time I enter the game environment the game crashes!. I tried resetting the ini files for oblivion with no luck. Since I'm using OMM I turned off the mods I just added after the skins. THE GAME STILL CRASHES!. BOSS is telling me everything looks good, so why the crashes? I have most of this stuff installed on the previous harddrive build before that drive crashed. How can I tell what's causing the game to crash? The mods are turned off to the point where I knew it would work. And yes I did delete the oblivion ini file in my games to reset after I disabled the mods.

some of the races you may have installed may have overwritten files thus causing your crashing. Without using wyre bash to see what problems you may have (like missing masters and such) I am not sure anyone can really help you.

Posting your load order will help us to help you also.

I'm sure that you'll get loads of helpful advice, however I have an alternative suggestion to make.

I gave up with CM Partners a long time ago. I found it a nightmare to run. It might have been just me, but...

I found MCS to be a lot more stable and flexible. You can make up to 96 companions using it.

If used in conjunction with something like the following, you get plenty to play with (though you'll need to check the requirements with care). See Post #7 on following thread onward:

Have fun

For quick checking, Wryebash is a great first step. Even if you don't build a bashed patch, you'll be able to see at a glance if you have any missing masters or obvious conflicts.

After that, TES4Edit is an excellent conflict detector.

BOSS is good, but not perfect. Still, run it, read all the notes, see if it warns you about anything obvious.

Conscribe will give you a log of exactly what's going on when you crash. Sometimes you can see which mod caused it.

Bug hunting in Oblivion is painful, and we all get crashes as we get closer to the 255 mod mark. But those tools can do a lot.

If all else fails, clean install. Every few steps of the install launch Oblivion, and if it's running make a zip of your data folder to that stage to give you a restore point. Might take you a couple of days to get everything set up again, but you'll at least get it done.

Thanks for the input everyone. Today steam found 6 corrupt/changed files, since I was trying to reset oblivion I moved the files out so steam would send down a fresh copy. Oblivion master (esm) file was replaced, unfortunately none of this helped. Still getting my feet wet with bash. I know how to rebuild the bash file and install mods but still learning how to trouble shot using it. So far its telling everything looks fine. Green across the board, I ran boss making sure my load orders are go. I wonder if I reinstalled the dlc patches that it may some how fix my game. I think the one mod that jacked everything was one telling X about using oblivion master SI.. load order

I even turned off the drow content and still no luck. Whenever the world tries to load the game crashes to desktop. I can start a new game with watching the opening cutscene but when the jail tries to load crash. The load bar reaches the end then crash.

(update)

reinstalling patches didn't help, I went so far as to use the reset option under data files so only oblivion esm runs. still no luck.

Try running TES4Edit and see what messages it gives you. Sometimes it gives you at least a clue. Not foolproof though.

A few things leap out at me immediately

1. SC_Drow Race.esm - nothing should go before Oblivion.esm. I'd move it to below Beautiful People.

2. UOP Vampire Aging & Face Fix.esp - probably does no harm, but is useless as you can set that in the Bashed Patch.

3.BreakUndies.esm should go under x117race.esm

Agreed now reinstalling for the 4th time. I know the system is stable after the skin mods. Using this install format

1. Install body replacer

2. Install Beautiful People 2ch-Ed v1.8.0 Fixed

3. Install Modular Beautiful People 2ch-Edition (Full) 1.4.omod

Note: If you use x117++077 install it before Modular Beautiful People 2ch Edition Plus Plus

4. Install Modular Beautiful People 2ch Edition Plus Plus

5. Tweak .ini file bFaceGenTexturing=0 (optional)

Should I install the race mods before or after step 4? I know drow race loves to replace skins not sure if they are the same skin or not. For note when installing lovers pk90 there's a Plugin file LoversAnimObjectsPriority.esp already exists conflict with pk resources. Just overwrite?
