Reducing Freezing with Kinky World, or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love CC

So I've been browsing older forum posts for a few days in order to troubleshoot a massive amount of freezing when using kinky world in a large town (Los Aniegos) with a lot of CC without sacrificing what I have. Only one solution worked for me which will be posted here, but I've tried all of them and they all work in specific scenarios. So if you're using KW and you've had the game freeze often after a long save here are some helpful tips you can try.

- Routing issues are obviously one of the primary causers of lag in The Sims 3. If you're using overwatch with the settings that KW recommends, then you have stuck check auto-reset turned off. There's no need to enable it since that will cause issues in itself, but rather go into your console commands (ctrl+shift+c) and type "resetsim *" (without the quotes). This will reset all sims in the town and move them to a safe location.

- Sometimes objects and the like can cause freezing as well, but if you have Nraas master controller installed then you can reset objects as well! Go to your town hall and select nraas>master controller>town>reset everything. This will take a minute but it will reset all objects in the town.

 

- Even after resetting objects, having a lot of them in your inventory can cause freezing issues. When my game started to degrade I was running a fairly sizeable pot farm, yielding over 600 cannabis flowers a day, and when they dry they split evenly into herbs and seeds. Pro-tip: Sell the herbs at the grocery store as quickly as possible and delete the seeds you don't use.

- Now here's the big one that caused the issues for me: DISABLE AUTOMATIC SELFIES. Just like memories that cause lag in default EA Sims 3 by storing massive amounts of snapshots, kinkyworld will store kinky selfies in the same location for the ENTIRE town! To disable kinky selfie auto-generation, click on a sim and go to KinkyWorld>Settings>Global Settings>Selfie Creation and set that to "disabled." If you like that feature, not to worry! I agree, Routing fails will stack up in the script execution, causing stutters that become unbearable. Reset sims or everything as you mentioned clears up most of these issues. I was having most problems with the default world that comes with Island Paradise. I've considered downloading some new worlds which have been 'fixed' by ingenious players, but since this would severely upset all the changes I've made to lots over time it would be a last resort for myself.

 

If I may, including the use of Kuree's save cleaner can help as well. If you do a search on the forums, there should be enough info to get one started as well as become aware with any unwanted issues which arise from it's use (certain types of pictures/paintings become deleted without special handling due to the cleaning). It also cleans the amount of stored info from use of CAS (basically CAS saves info from each change you make but never deletes it - failed implementation of it's ability to roll-back changes you make).

I appreciate the compliment. First post on loverslab anyhow, I do various reddit commenting and posting. I just felt that after 48 hours of searching for solution something needed to be compiled as an inclusive solution for those likely having the same issues, and I appreciate your input as well, I've been toying with the idea of making a SFW lag reduction guide on the Sims subreddit and adding to the kinky world wiki which is severely lacking in valuable input. Been testing all the features in KW and seeing how far I can stretch the limits since like, late 2016.

After rereading your post, I see you've had a lot of issues with Isla Paradiso.

I also found a patch to reduce the water density which helped a while ago, but I can't find it for the life of me.

Another thing that FAQ mentions is "turn down your options". I don't feel that is clear enough, so I want to point out it refers to the graphics settings you have in game (reflections, water, how far away other lots can be seen, etc.). It might not apply to your situations, but I tuned my settings a while back, and ended up with values that I can live with, where my game looks nice, but isn't as impressive as it could be with a different computer. It definitely made a difference when I did that. I basically just experimented with min/max values for one setting a time to see what effect it had, then set it to something I could live with if lowering made an improvement.

One of the first things I did after getting my 'Oculus' ready system (I7 gtx1080 ssd yada yada) was purchasing the disks missing from my sims collection, installing the entire collection on an external SSD (along with FO4) and moving my entire sims install (both 'My Docs' and 'x86') via external HD to the new system and simply over writing what was there (after backing up the entire new install folders). Worked like a charm.

Yeah there;s no game I back up more frequently and more thoroughly than Sims 3. I dont have an external drive though Im planning on picking one up, however I have a seperate 1tb HDD where I back up all my mods, saves, and screenshots. Definitely a good practice, especially if you plan on following the part of my guide that involves removing overbloated SNAP and IMG files
