gregathit Posted November 28, 2012 Posted November 28, 2012 Those are all vanilla .dll files. I have never heard of any mod that will mess with OBSE as mods almost NEVER do anything outside of the data folder (exceptions being UI mods). You DO need the official patches to run both OBSE and pretty much any mod out there today. HOWEVER, since you have steam you don't need to install ANY patches as steam will patch the game up to date. If you are installing official patches on top of a game that is already patched up to date then that could be where things are going south on you. If you are installing OOO then you do NOT need the unofficial oblivion patches (UOP) as OOO contains all of that already. There is NO compatibility patch for OOO and lovers, as none is needed. They work just fine together right out of the gate, for version 133 and 134.5. I don't have a clue on 135 but I "assume" that it will work fine. Load order is probably the most important thing to make sure you get right here. PK extender's version needs to match whatever version of lovers with PK you are running. OOO and any BIG overhaul mod needs to be installed PRIOR to installing lovers. I think you are trying to do too much, too quickly without confirming that things work first. Get OBSE working correctly first before doing anything else, because if you can't get it to work then no other mod will. Make sure you read and follow this section of the readme: [spoiler=Steam OBSE install and usage directions] IF YOU ARE USING THE STEAM VERSION OF OBLIVION: 1. Copy obse_1_2_416.dll, obse_editor_1_2.dll, and obse_steam_loader.dll to your Oblivion directory. This is usually "C:\Program Files\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\common\oblivion". 2. Ensure you have enabled the Steam community in-game, or OBSE will fail to load. Go to Steam > Settings > In-Game and check the box marked "Enable Steam Community In-Game". 3. Launch Oblivion via Steam or by running Oblivion.exe. OBSE will automatically be run along with Oblivion when launched. To disable this, rename or move obse_steam_loader.dll. You do not need to use obse_loader.exe unless you are running the editor.
Bazzal Posted November 28, 2012 Author Posted November 28, 2012 So the steam version you basically have all the official patches already patched right off the bat? This is something I did not know as no where in the tutorials does it say this. I strictly followed part of the first steps of Installation guide with followers etc but skipped the 4bg patch as XP doesn't use the 64 bit. This should be on the new tutorial. Mainly what I am doing is basically making the game work with a mix of the quick installation guide and the one of Installation with lovers tutorials. Mainly I am trying to get the basics into the game with an including of Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul. Thats the main goal that I am doing and seeing if it can work properly. Right now I am redownloading the entire oblivion folder of Vanilla off of steam. I have actually not seen a reference to steam versions already having the official patches. Are you sure they are? I actually always download the unofficial patches prior to doing the lovers mods. As I have not seen in any tutorials does it say "if you have steam you don't need them" But since OOO has the patches already then I guess Im good. This should be brought to attention to those that use steam when doing these important steps. This is great to know! On the "Installation with Lovers and MBP" though I did not download MBP and put it in my game cause I didn't want to use it cause I just wanted to keep it normal and simple I downloaded the unofficial patch of shivering Isles and that was it. Then I downloaded OOO but I have no idea if I did OOO right. "Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul" the tutorials on it are massive. It can get confusing on which files to download to make it work as so many references to complete, upgrades, and patches archives it can get a little confusing for some first time modders. I am not but still have some trouble. I think I got this part golden now though. I will just put in the complete and nothing else. I think it will work fine. Is the complete of Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul or OOO 1.3 Complete the patched and ready version already done? Or is that the pure base? Is that the only one to install to make it work? Cause theres one saying ooo final upgrade etc with the same 1.3 on it and your like "do I have to download that to patch it to its final finished state? There is also the omod version which I can't even omod cause it says files are in other folders and problems can arise if they stay that etc. I am not sure if you have to removed the .esp's like LITE version so you don't use LITE. I do know you go into DATA when you run the game to run what you want before you start the game. This is why a new tutorial is a good idea. Cause there is many things that aren't put in detail or run through which can cause problems. I'm not trying to cause a headache. Also thankyou very much for taking the time to help me. Its much appreciated. What I do with my omods: (I'm going to redo the archives with the clean install Im doing) Something I found on my own that was super useful was when I added an omod I would put The (A--)would be for texture packs but I may actually this time change them all to B since I have to download ooo first so I would put essential files in the (A--) section. The (B--) would then be for texture packs. As above these would turn to C now. Like so: (A01) -OMOD/folder/file- (AO2) -OMOD/folder/file- (A03) -OMOD/folder/file- (B01) -OMOD/folder/file- (B02) -OMOD/folder/file- (B03) -OMOD/folder/file- (C01) -OMOD/folder/file- (C01) -OMOD/folder/file- (C01) -OMOD/folder/file- And so on. I like doing it this way and it makes it so your omod installations are so much more easier to follow through and handle. They also (almost all the time) stay in alphabetical order. This also makes it super easy to uninstall and reinstall. This was also not on the tutorial and this step can save your install order and installation and reinstall process so you don't have to make a new vanilla reinstall. Or do backups. I should of kept a backup of the vanilla but it was already modded when I reinstalled it a while ago. As the files never leave. Just the vanilla one uninstall. So today I'm just getting the main vanilla for future backups. So I hope this was a little more easier to follow then my other stuff I put down.
gregathit Posted November 28, 2012 Posted November 28, 2012 You Never, Ever, Ever patch any steam versions of a game. This is not mentioned as it "should" be common knowledge. Steam auto patches any game you buy through them. I am referring to "official" patches here. ----------------------------- For OOO you don't need to install any patches for the 133 complete version. Just choose either the OMOD ready or the exe version (they are the ones that are 400+ megs). The only patch that you install (and this is optional) is the OOO_134_Beta_5_Patch.7z ------------- I repeat - if you are using OOO then you do NOT need the unofficial patches. You can install them if you want but almost everything they change will be changed by OOO so it is a waste of time and esp slots.
Bazzal Posted November 28, 2012 Author Posted November 28, 2012 Thats something to include in the new tutorial! That has probably right there been my most biggest help I have ever gotten. Nowhere has anyone told me or is on any of the forums I have seen yet says this crucial information. And with the complete that also helps me a bunch. Thanks for clearing that up for me. That will indeed make it 10000x more easier to do my installs. My vanilla download has just finished so I am going to redo my steps. First I have to backup it and I will let you know how everything turns out!
Bazzal Posted November 30, 2012 Author Posted November 30, 2012 How do you make a log of your load order on wyre bash? That the only thing I want to do to show you mine and how I got everything working. OBSE is working great now and theres no problems to report. Just the game always crashes when I exit the game. Also TachiCat2 sometimes it crashes the game when you choose certain animations. Not sure why that is. Also my game is working great finally. I got it fully working and OOO loaded up great. Lots of things in the game are crazy amazing now! The only thing is I deleted lovers with pk cause I didn't like the experience thing and the animations having a time limit.
gregathit Posted November 30, 2012 Posted November 30, 2012 Crash on exit is a normal thing (sounds strange). However you can grab a OBSE plugin file that will cure this: http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/22410 You just put it in the following location: Oblivion\data\obse\plugins\ If there is no plugins folder just create one.
Bazzal Posted December 2, 2012 Author Posted December 2, 2012 It would be kind of silly not having that plugins folder cause then my game would not work lol. Thanks again!
