Bazzal Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 (A merging of Installation Guide with Lovers, MBP and Wyre with Bashed Patch with Quick Installation Guide) I think its time to rewrite everything to a basic and super easy installation. With going into every detail and step of what to do and what not to do. Like when on a tutorial it says patch the game with the official shivering Isles patch it does not make it clear of {which type of patch} Like the unofficial patches of Oblivion and so on. This new made tutorial will be used for future versions and patches. And just easy access and fun. Lets make it fun! Also it should include the basics like things that are not compatible with certain things etc. When the downloads on the nexus site say main file and patches etc, it gets confusing of which ones to download as some download pages have a couple so you get confused of which one to download. Sometimes its not all obvious which one to get. It can get quite frustrating downloading the wrong file or installer. Ashal and Razarkis's tutorials, awesome that they are should be condensed and supplied with all the available downloads needed with direct instructions on exactly what to do in installing things. Along with the amazing tutorial supplied by Zikare on Ashals tutorial which made it really easy for installing lovers and the texture packs. Including the Nexus pages of which exact file to download so those that are following the tutorial don't screw up with downloading the wrong file. Donkey's Available Lovers Mods with Direct links should also be supplied and some instructions on getting some of those would be cool for new users. I would also like to add things like BBB would have a link to a installation process on how to add just that for example so people are not stuck with the tutorial writers installation that they like. I always found this complicated things as it basically didn't go through a installation process without it. Or how to do other things without that and its requirements, (make it short) just makes it more confusing on where to restart where he went off on his little adds that would not be compatible with the things you want in game. A new tutorial with the basic lovers with PK, LoversBitch, and a couple others that would be essential for play like Oscuros Oblivion Overhaul. Also not just lovers PK would be included. Playing the game with mods and overhauls would be a nice touch as well. Like Martigen's Monster Mod. Or something like that as well. A better installation of horses from Justinof Dicks for Horses and their junks should be put in as well as I even have trouble getting them in game. I never have been successful with that. Mods would be included on how to work with these installations if they can be combined together. "Maybe" compatible mods with lovers Martigen's Monster Mod http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=OblivionMods.Detail&id=1757 That one would be insanely amazing to add to the game! All this is simply an idea for now. Other people may be free to comment on the idea or even add to it! I still want some other things added to the tutorials but have to figure it out myself. As well as others for now because there are no tutorials on them.
gregathit Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 I do plan on rewriting the basic install guide for lovers when we release rev96 but it will just be the very basic mod package. There is no way on this earth I can make a tutorial that includes installing every lovers plugin on this site, or even 3/4 of them. Some just won't play with others and others require alternate versions of plugins from still yet others. It would quickly disintegrate into a useless confusing heap of crap that no one would or could read. Direct links are also not gonna happen as Donkey stated prior to him leaving he wanted his stuff hidden so only members could get at it. This also would by pass the OP for each mod, which list out the controls and requirements. Trying to reproduce that would end up with a install guide about 10 times larger than the one for Razarkis. I do want to make things as simple as possible for new and existing members as this benefits me personally by causing me to spend less time helping those same folks out in the tech support thread, however, not at the expense of making a giant and confusing wall of text that won't be understood or read. Been there and done that. As you said it needs to be simple and straight forward. I am open to suggestions but let's not make something too unwieldy of this.
Bazzal Posted November 27, 2012 Author Posted November 27, 2012 Okay well thats what I was looking for. We could try doing a normal installation of the normal quick installation guide with Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul? I have been trying to get it to run with the basic installation guide. I do not know what conflicts with what yet with all the things in the [information Installation Guide with Lovers' date= MBP and Wyre with Bashed Patch] I am not going to use the MBP cause its just to massive. Takes to long and it conflicts with a couple things with the normal installation guide cause I think it broke stuff. I don't know. I'm a master modder myself and I know how to do things. I have worked with Electronic Arts and Firefly studios and a couple others so wooo! Its hard not being in a fantasy world where your fantasies can't come true.. :'[ But anyways thats why I am here. I am back after over a year and a half and want to help in things again. The first thing I want to do is get a simple good and updated tutorial cause honestly its in random places in the forums where it jumps to different things and you have to scroll down and see others contributions that are not labeled on the tutorials and you have to find them yourself sometimes. I didn't exactly mean a huge installation guide of every plugin just I think its time to make a detailed tutorial of what "exactly" to install when your on pages like the download files on Nexus. A lot of people have gotten confused on those parts. I have even downloaded the wrong things accidentally. "oopsy" But yeah a new basic tutorial with the basics should be down. As well as how to make the plugins work properly when certain folders that were downloaded arn't in an omod ready install and have to be moved around and tweaked to make the plugins show up and work together properly. LOTS of people have failed on that part. I even had a huge mess on that stage to. So I'm glad to be back! I would love to work with you to on it!
Bazzal Posted November 27, 2012 Author Posted November 27, 2012 This is a rundown of what I would like to see on my game and mainly a better installation and tutorial guide to follow. It increases the "game play" as well as makes more stability in game and also adds all the upgraded plugins since the updates and tweaks. Also adds many things that just add to the game in general making the experience more enjoyable. With of course a proper list of load order. <-- That one is especially important. Things that may be included in the tutorial are as follows: The basics. I am not sure about the 4gb installer cause I only use xp cause I didn't like windows vista or 7. a)Oblivion Mod Manager (OBMM) OBSE (Oblivion Script Extender) c) Pluggy d) MenuQue e) Elys Universal Silent Voice f) The 4gb patcher g) Wyre Bash h)OOO - Obscuros Oblivion Overhaul What I would really like is to get Obscuros Oblivion Overhaul and how to exactly install it to obmm (Oblivion Mod Manager). At parts its confusing which one to use. I wanted to use the full and patched version right off the bat but theres multiple plugins within the pack. I was unsure if you needed to remove some from the folders etc. I am also wondering if its compatible with the normal installation guide. Fore this reason is because you have to download an "official" patch not one of the "unofficial" patches. Some of the plugins and packs for lovers I believe needed to unofficial patches? But Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul needs the "official" patch to play? I have seen this "official" patch screws up a file needed to play the game thus you cannot play it. i)Growl's Universal Skeleton Apparently needed for everything. I havent seen this one yet. I was here when the old version was out. --------------------------------------------------- [Lovers Plugin Index with Direct Links] http://www.loverslab.com/showthread.php?tid=8779 Alot of these good plugins and packs are missing from the installation guide and their load order they should be in to work properly and it would be awesome to get a bunch of those in for better game play. Some of the plugins are also revamped and improved so it would be more stable for your gaming experience. Also less headache when going through your game. I want to keep it easy to do and easy to follow without a huge random hard to grasp tutorial. The tutorials out right now the three which are mainly mentioned are all over the place/ Ashals is probably the best so far as it included everything but still was not so easy to follow with all the links leading to different parts of the forums. It would be cool to keep everything in one area so your not going through crazy amounts of pages at a time trying to follow the installation process. Well thats some insights for now. Hope that makes it better to understand what I was looking for when I made this thread.
gregathit Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 There is no need to rewrite an OOO installation guide. It is right here: http://devnull.sweetdanger.net/OOO/OOO_Guide.html#OOO133Patch I couldn't write one more thorough if I tried than this. Growlf's Universal Skeleton (controllable version) has become the standard for all skeletons: http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/37596 ------------ I don't follow how we can have everything in 'one' place. That won't work at all. We can link to a plugins thread but it would be senseless to get too carried away with copying all of the OP's. As to a load order. There is a master load order right at the bottom of the Quick Install OP (I know because I revised that OP and put the load order there). The same master load order can be found in the Tech help thread there: http://www.loverslab.com/showthread.php?tid=6133 I'll think about how to rewrite things but folks are still going to have to go individual threads to both read\download things. That I won't change as it would just be a giant wall of text. Hell, there are enough folks that barely read OP's as it is.
Bazzal Posted November 27, 2012 Author Posted November 27, 2012 We could just put all the links up for super easy transitioning. I also found the newest upgrade of Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul 1.35 http://tesalliance.org/forums/index.php?/files/file/1103-oscuros-oblivion-overhaul/ The OOO installation guide is outdated. Its now 1.35 The base 1.3 is no longer up at filefront and missing. So people can't get the installation working... Hopefully it gets updated to the TES Alliance site where the newest version is! ------------ Im not trying to encourage a huge wall of text. My bad. Just would like a rewritten revised and more detailed tutorial. With more links and so on. With its simplicity intact of course.
gregathit Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 Only a few of the 1.33 links are down and not all of them. Besides you can also get the OMOD ready 133 complete from the Planet Elder Scrolls: http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=OblivionMods.Detail&id=3953 The 134.5 patch is also there. I personally have not upgraded to 135, so I don't know if it is compatible with all the mods that 133 and the 134.5 patch are. Until I have a chance to test it myself (which won't be this year) I am not going to recommend it.
Bazzal Posted November 27, 2012 Author Posted November 27, 2012 Downloading OOO is totally confusing. I have been trying hard to do the omod version but always theres errors. Stuff like shivering isles folder won't open stuff like that :\ But anyways the whole way they made it for download makes it tedious and confusing. I have no idea what to download first then what to patch it to. But when I do find what to download the patches and upgrades make it more confusing. When I get them and extract them to eachother theres things like cannot move file for its name is to long. I have been trying forever but always fail... I follow the steps accordingly. But they never work.. I'm actually going to try the new 1.35 version to see if it works! I'll let you know the outcome.
gregathit Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 If you install the 133 complete OMOD ready version then it is pretty darn simple. I don't know what could possibly fail. Now I do agree back when you had to install 130 and then patch it several times it was a bit confusing but the 133 complete OMOD ready version fixed all of that. At the Planet Elderscrolls link I just gave you they even have an exe install which I would imagine is even simpler. Version 135 introduces a shit ton of addons (25 not counting the KON one) that potentially could conflict with all kinds of other mods. Version 135 is also fairly new and that generally means patches for any mod it conflicts with may not yet have been written. Yet another thing that will have to be done is extracting the bsa file that they packed everything into to see what all they buried in there. If they stuck skeletons and other crap it could cause problems for folks. I am too busy with other things to spend the time to properly investigate such a huge plugin to determine if will cause more problems than it solves. I do plan to upgrade at "some" point - provided the changes they made are to my liking. The latest is not always the best... Best of luck to you with 135.
Bazzal Posted November 27, 2012 Author Posted November 27, 2012 The bsa I can't even extract it. It goes to about 6% and then say with an error some words are to long cannot extract things like that then is closes. Is that ooo 1.3 fully patched? I thought it was the base then you have to patch it more or something? Thats what I have been doing. :| The thing I keep getting is "the specified path, file name, or both are to long. The fully qualified file name must be less then 260 characters, and the directory must be less then 248 characters." Its been doing that to me all day.. With even me patching it to. And it did it again as well for the new 1.35 bsa one. I think I may just install it manually. omod is not working for me. EDIT ------------------ Dangit I didn't know the ooo 1.3 file that you download what already omod creatable. Just tried it and it went through no problems. I thought I was supposed to extract everything into folders? ------------------ Still is that ooo 1.3 patched? Or is it just the base then you have to patch it?
gregathit Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 Unless you are going to mod things you don't need to extract the bsa file. Just dump it into your oblivion\data\ folder where your esp files go. That is one of the problems with XP on the characters..... As to the 133 version - it is fully patched - you just install and play. Now you can install the 134.5 patch (which I do recommend) but that is a manual drag and drop install that you just overwrite as needed. You don't have to install the patch if you don't want to.

Oh k thats a lot better to know! Now I think I can get it working finally. Got the basics working again. Now I only need to get ooo working. Thats my main goal im trying to do.
Bazzal Posted November 27, 2012 Author Posted November 27, 2012 The ooo 1.3 didn't come with the .esm that you need. Its in the patch. But anyways obmm keeps shorting out when I bash my game. Still trying to get it bashed so I can use it all modded with the basics. I tell you this is really terribly annoying. :\ I keep getting this terrible error when bashing... Traceback (most recent call last): File "bash\basher.pyo", line 7554, in Execute File "bash\bosh.pyo", line 14592, in buildPatch File "bash\bosh.pyo", line 1622, in getMastersUsed File "bash\bosh.pyo", line 383, in getOrdered File "bash\bosh.pyo", line 5520, in getOrdered File "bash\bosh.pyo", line 5520, in File "bash\bolt.pyo", line 1495, in __cmp__ File "bash\bolt.pyo", line 1023, in getCase File "ntpath.pyo", line 402, in normpath AttributeError: 'int' object has no attribute 'startswith' D: -------------- Okay so I went with CBashing it through Beta and it actually finally went through this time . I'll let you know if it all works.
gregathit Posted November 28, 2012 Posted November 28, 2012 There is an esm in the OOO_133_Complete.7z file. How are you installing this? You should either install it via OBMM or manually. And what do you mean that OBMM shorts out when you bash your game? You can't have both OBMM and Wrye open at the same time! Only have one open at a time!

And what do you mean that OBMM shorts out when you bash your game? You can't have both OBMM and Wrye open at the same time! Only have one open at a time! Really? Your not supposed to have them out at the same time? I didn't know that :\ For the ooo install, I installed just the normal ooo 1.3 the one that is under "required mods" for the install then I went with the "patch" one to add the missing .esm. I never used the complete or upgrade packs. I put them in the data folder and actually everything working well so far. I havent gotten really far cause I have been trying to fix my khajit textures.
gregathit Posted November 28, 2012 Posted November 28, 2012 Both OBMM and Wrye use some of the same files so when you have both open they wig out. If you are not installing an OMOD then just leave OBMM closed and use Wrye for everything. Yea, the Khajiit textures can be a pain sometimes. Here is the fix I used: http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/40048
Bazzal Posted November 28, 2012 Author Posted November 28, 2012 aha! Something I need! I actually fixed mine. I kept the female in the old eyecandy textures and the male to Roberts malebodyreplacer v5 So all thats good now. Now theres a message saying lovers needs OBSE to play and im like :| wtf? So now I have to fix that headache...
gregathit Posted November 28, 2012 Posted November 28, 2012 OBSE is required for darn near any mod these days unless you just want to play vanilla oblivion. OBSE: http://obse.silverlock.org/ Follow the instructions on placement and start the game either with the obse_loader.exe or Wrye after installing OBSE.
Bazzal Posted November 28, 2012 Author Posted November 28, 2012 OBSE is required for darn near any mod these days unless you just want to play vanilla oblivion. OBSE: http://obse.silverlock.org/ Follow the instructions on placement and start the game either with the obse_loader.exe or Wrye after installing OBSE. The thing is I got it the problem is something was probably overwritten so Im going to redo this step for OBSE. I think an older version file replaced an OBSE file that was currently up to date and in use.
gregathit Posted November 28, 2012 Posted November 28, 2012 Nothing you installed should have touched OBSE for any reason (unless you previously installed OBSE). Make certain that the OBSE files are where your oblivion.exe file is and it will be fine.
Bazzal Posted November 28, 2012 Author Posted November 28, 2012 lol it got deleted for some reason at some point. Its now back I can also do normal bashing in wyre bash. ----------- lovers still needs OBSE to work? Okay then I don't know whats up.. I don't know why its doing this but would you think deleting everything and restarting the OBSE stage will do the trick? scratch that. Im going to just restart the entire thing I did today tomorrow. That way I can't go wrong! Maybe if I can't get it fixed tonight then Im redoing everything I did today, tomorrow.
gregathit Posted November 28, 2012 Posted November 28, 2012 Did you manually unzip and drag\drop OBSE into your oblivion folder? If you are trying to use OBMM or Wrye to install it then it will fail as they don't work worth a crap on .dll files. Just extract it and manually drop it in and then run obse_loader.exe to start the game and you will be fine. If you have issues try posting your load order.

Just extract it and manually drop it in and then run obse_loader.exe to start the game and you will be fine. If you have issues try posting your load order. I cannot run the obse loader.exe because I run the steam version. I have done everything from redoing every step of obse and it doesn't work anymore. Im just going to do a fresh install of Oblivion and then do every step again. My bashes won't even go through anymore. Both of them. I know what to do now!
gregathit Posted November 28, 2012 Posted November 28, 2012 Then you failed to read the readme file that comes with OBSE. You can run OBSE and steam together if you follow the instructions. Reinstalling the whole game or all of your mods won't do anything to help you.
Bazzal Posted November 28, 2012 Author Posted November 28, 2012 I have, to its end. I actually think that the problem is now that a incompatible oblivion that does not support OBSE was reinstalled, or a folder I dropped in the data folder might of replaced something or something else in it could of directly stopped it from working. Im going to just redo the shivering Isles unofficial patch then put in the ooo 1.33 complete and see if that helps. I scratched the full redownloading process cause its to long to wait for. Every hour it goes up by 1% so Im going with a backup folder of oblivion I saved earlier. I'm also going to delete all .esp files etc and the obse in general that were there for mods I put in. Maybe after that It will all work again. After that whole retexturing fix I did thats when obse stopped working for some reason. It happened right after I installed Roberts malebodyreplacer. Even though I had it running a while back trying to get ooo to work. All this has mentally confused me in how obse would stop working. What version of PK Extender do you need with the normal lovers resource package? I also installed the v91. Im not sure if that was the case but maybe? I don't know. But it also could of been that through the data folders something conflicted with OBSE or some other mod I put in or file could of replaced an essential file that OBSE looks for and it was outdated or the vanilla version patches screwed something up. What exact patches do you install for the lovers and Oscuro's OO to work properly? Cause ooo says you need the official patches while lovers needs the unofficial. Doesnt that cause problems? This is why a new tutorial needs to be done. Cause it just does not prepare you for what to exactly download and how word for word. I have to add that there are other .dll files in the oblivion folder in the same area of obse. atimgpud.dll binkw32.dll IronMath.dll IronPython.dll I think they are either: "Main Oblivion .dll's for the game to work" or "Mods that included and installed these .dll's" Also maybe of put those in by manually putting those in the folder trying to install a mod.
