DragonsReach; Balgruuf's children never sleep?

I rolled my first pure Thief; I sneaked into Balgruuf's Quarters to grab the gem and... Well EVERYTHING not attached to the floor but the kids don't ever sleep. I waited, I tried loading from earlier, I tried changing cells, I loaded another character... Nothing. Well let me just list what I did try;

- Cell change
- Different character
- Loading from an earlier point
- Turning them into followers via AFT and commanding them to sleep
- Setting them as owners(They probably already are) of the beds
- Using Jaxsonz Tools to position and enlarge the beds in case it was a placement issue
- Installing various children related mods(Each separately and properly installed) like Immersive Children, hoping that they would fix the issue
- Disabling every single USLEEP supplementary mod I'm running, disabled even USLEEP!
- Cleaning my Save
- Starting a New Game to see if it would persist- It did, so I think I just never noticed, never played a Sneak/Thief character in fact so it makes sense

Let me clarify that this is a very particular and isolated issue, which only Balgruuf's 3 kids have(Agny and the other 2), and ONLY with their own beds in their room, ironically. Every other child actor follows their NPC schedule fine, uses furniture as they should and so on. In fact my installation is very stable, clean and optimized and I have no other issues. I certainly haven't touched my LO or set up recently, I was in the middle of a full play through with my main character, which has progressed quite far and I made a Thief to YOLO a bit.

So what is going on? Any ideas?

The only thing that makes sense is that you have a mod that has overwritten their packages. In the vanilla game (and, for that matter, in my heavily modded Skyrim game) they all sleep just fine. That fact is why I tend to do the Ebony Blade Daedric Quest at night (I don't have to wander around looking for Nelkir). You might want to get one of the yard apes in your crosshairs, bring up your console and see what the last mod to affect them is. That is probably what has caused your issue.

Excellent suggestion, I suppose in my immersion breaking induced panic I forgot to check that :3 The last mod to affect those children was The Prince and Pauper, in particular the RSChildren & 3DNPC Patch for that. Disabling as I go, it went from that one, all the way down to RSChildren as a whole- At which point the game would not load any more, despite me being in an interior cell with no NPCs around. However those are simply visual modifications and clothing as far as I can tell. Their beds were last affected by USCP(Skyrim City Patch in short, a complementary mod to USLEEP) and from there, disabling got me down to Non-Essential Children(I really hate invincible NPCs of any kind in any game) and then to USLEEP. The issue with the assumption that any of these are responsible for their behaviour, is only that these affect many other child NPCs and beds all over Skyrim and those have no issues as mentioned... If we put aside the hard fact that disabling all of the mods I mentioned did not fix the issue.

I don't disagree with your overall assessment. However, it is the nature of mods that they interact, not just with vanilla Skyrim, but with each other. Many of those interactions are entirely unpredictable in outcome. It is for that reason that there is an entire thread in Skyrim General Discussion entitled something like "Share the Weird Quirks of your Modded Skyrim Game." None of the individual mods cause the results (many of which are hilarious) seen there, it is how the mods impact each other. At this point I'm afraid you are going to have to do it the old fashioned way. Eliminate mods and see when it goes back to "normal." Then add things back as you decide you can't live without them. Or, as I often find myself doing, live with the weird quirk. Most of my mods are worth tolerating an eccentricity or two.

Most definitely agree, besides I can't go further back beyond RSChildren without consistent CTD. I suppose I'll write it off as a severe case of insomnia due to recent events in Skyrim ;'3 At least this little ordeal reminded me it may be a good time to bring all my mods up to date.
