SkyrimSE updated and now SKSE don't work? Read this!

I know, double post, but I feel it is important enough:

For those who need it:

To download the previous version of SkyrimSE.exe which will work with SKSE, until it and the dependant mods are updated, follow these instructions:

Open steam

press win+R, in the "run" box paste: steam://nav/console.

This will open the Steam console.

In steam console, paste: download_depot 489830 489833 583541185188584076

the v1.5.50 exe will download to [your steam install folder]/Steam\steamapps\content\app_489830\depot_489833

put it back into the Skyrim SE game-folder [your steam install folder]/Steam/steamapps\common\Skyrim Special Edition

And happy gaming again :)

To prevent Steam from updating SkyrimSE again, do the following:

In Steam, rightclick SkyrimSE, got "properties"

In properties, go to the Updates Tab

Set to "Only update when launched" and close.

Now Skyrim will only update when you use the Steam overlay to start the game.

But of course you, as a smart and savvy gamer, will ONLY start SkyrimSE with the SKSE Loader. Right?

IMPORTANT EDIT:

*sigh* Guess who apparently isn't a smart and svvy gamer... Yeah, me. So, an addition to the above: I forgot to mention that you MUST start Steam before doing anything SkyrimSE related.

For example (as I just found out again): If you start MO2 and run LOOT through MO2 to sort you modlist and you haven't started Steam prior, Steam WILL update to the new version...

So, start Steam before doing anything else. Just to be sure it doesn't sneakily update in the background and ruin your game after all the above precautions.

Might be worth adding this:

If you want to know when it is safe to update the game, follow the thread below and wait until all the mods you use in the top section of the 1st post turn green. Then you can update your skse64 mods and your game.

Thanks for these tips. I foolishly updated and updated everything I could to "catch-up" after not playing awhile and my obsession with keeping things tidy means I can't go back so I wait. :P I'll remember next time... of course I always say that but this time it's different!

I'm getting the following error in steam console:  command not found: download_depot

Anybody know what to do with this? Google search comes up with nothing, really
