Maybe quick .esp editing question.

So for a while I've been using LoversVoiceSSPplus.esp for Oblivion. Now, not to come off as a total jackass, while I appreciate the effort and time that went into the original translation and editing... the thing is still full of grammar and spelling errors and gibberish text. I want to change that, somewhat. Atleast for myself, because I'm a greedy little whore.

Problem is, I know exactly jack shit about this whole thing. I know I need to use the Construction Set for this, and poking around I know where the dialogue is. So, is it just as simple as changing the dialogue I want and then saving the file, or are there more hoops to jump through?

You need CS and OBSE then combine both program:

1) Create new shortcut for the CS+OBSE.

2) Right click on the shortcut and select properties.

3) Under the "shortcut" tab, in the target box enter the filepath for OBSE in quotes ""

4) After the quotes, hit the space-bar and type -editor

Something like this:

"C:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\obse_loader.exe" -editor

Double click on your new editor shortcut - This will load the Oblivion Script Extender (OBSE) features to Construction Tool (CS). Allows you to mod any OBSE required ESP.

BaconMinion, I was of the same opinion, but it IS simple, as you said. Just open the plugin in the CS, find the offending dialog, and change and save, it's that simple and it's what I did.

OR..

Use TES4EDIT to track down and edit the dialog narration manually. Assuming that the narration is written on QUEST dialog tree.

If you are going to modify ANY lovers plugins then you will also need CS extender. You risk screwing up the scripting if you tinker with those any other way.

If you find yourself in over your head, then wait a week or so, as I am working on this myself as I test plugins against rev96 of lovers with PK.

Well, fuck my last post! Lovers voice has about 15,000 or so fucking lines of dialogue in it! I shit you not! I cracked it open with Egg to take a look as some of the lines have bothered me too ... fuck me and the horse I rode in on there is a ton of shit in it! It must have taken Ashal 6 months to have translated that damn plugin.

When I get all the other plugins done I "may" take a look at this, but I can't afford to get bogged down with this sucker at the moment. I would have to put off all the other plugins for several weeks to mess with this sucker.

BaconMinion - If you don't want to wait on me, feel free to jump in this with both feet. This plugin is so large it may take several folks working on it to complete!

This thread has some of the tools to get you started: http://www.loverslab.com/showthread.php?tid=12410

Ashal! Huge props to you for translating this!!!!!

Thanks a lot everybody for all the information.

Despite all the text, I'm still seriously considering doing something with this, if even just as a personal project. But of course, if I do any real, substantial work, I'll share.

I'll be happy to help you but I can't get to it for several weeks.

Well' date=' I can't get the CS extender to work. Guess that's the end of this road.

Use version 51 and not the latest. The latest requires obse 21beta which causes issues with other things.

Just scroll down a bit to find version 51.

Also you need to make the shortcut to start the CS with OBSE as CS extender requires it.

I started on it but didn't get to far. I only managed to change 240 records, out of 10 or so thousand ....:P
