Headmesh options in 2018?

Hello.

 

Finally I figured out the variable which has the potential for the greatest improvement on how NPCs look in my game. That would be head meshes. I've never dealt with them, and I don't really know how they work, or necessarily how to install them (other than downloading and activating them in MO2).

 

My initial concern is that they may cause neck seams with skin textures, although I have no experience with this, whether they do or not. Can anyone confirm this?

 

Also, since I use Race Menu and there is a sculpt option, I wouldn't care as much about player-only head meshes, I'm mainly interested in improving the look of my NPCs.

 

I know there is RAN46's head meshes and CITRUS.

 

On the CITRUS mod page, it says I'd need to rebuilt the facegen for every NPC in the game in the CK. I have no idea how to do that, and I also really don't feel like doing that (I use CITRUS for the player character only, as far as I know that doesn't require any further assembly, it's just plug and play).

 

On the other hand, on the mod page of RAN46's headmeshes, there isn't any information, and I'm kind of worried they'd cause issues, especially considering how old they are (which shouldn't be a problem if they are made well).

 

I use NPC overhaul mods (Bijin, Ordinary Women, Pandorable's NPCs), which add their own facegen to NPCs... I think a new headmesh would mess with that, wouldn't it?

 

Are there any other options which would work without causing neck seams?

Bijin npcs each have their own head mesh in their custom folders (don't know about the other two mods you mentioned), and installing a head mesh to your default data folder would not affect them.

If you dont know how to make or remake an NPC in Creation Kit, stay with NPC overhaul mods, I doubt you would like to remake a couple of hundreds of heads in CK.
