Got a CTD - Need assistance please

Hi all, I'm suddenly getting a crash consistently and wondering if maybe my load order is wrong. I've got a lot of mods, maybe too many, so I'm sure something is wrong here.

where does the ctd happens? what exactly are you doing? things like this will help figure out your problem you know...

Oh you're right. I should've included that info. I'm north of the Nahant Wharf trying to do the institute quest to meet up with the courser. There's a sentry bot in the way and so I kill it. After it blows up roughly 10 seconds later it crashes, everytime too. I should also mention there was a sentry bot behind me that I destroyed but it didn't crash on that one.

if the crash is related to a npc try using killall or disabling him to see if the game doesnt crash, but i never really seen the game crashing after you kill a npc... you sure its not when you get near nahant wharf? its a lot more common to crash when you get near a location or a npc that is alive lol

First about the crash issue: On my previous FO4 installation, i added and removed some mods and maybe that's the reason, maybe it's not, i was having hard crashes on some areas of the game. Like this one you're showing us. Then, i would search for the location on the internet, find a cell ID, and "coc" to the place. Doing this would instantly remove the crash on the area. I would run all around the place without problems anymore.

So, a very simple thing that i recommend to you: If you're crashing after the explosion of the sentry bot, when you find him, try first killing him with console (console>click on sentry bot>"kill").

If you just killed one without problems, this means that the explosion is not the problem... Like bad meshes/textures/mag effects or anything like that.
If killing him is not the problem, but reaching the place (like, you kill him and start walking, then the game crashes and you think that the explosion is the problem), then try using "coc" to the location.

 

If this doesn't help... well, are all your mods up-to-date? For example, some people were having crashes after one update of Armor Keywords or Armorsmith. And there's also some people that forgets about the updates. This was a while ago now, but always good to note.

 

Well, not much i can say now, you need to test.

If you can coc to the place without problems, after using coc go back and try to kill the robot. If you keep geting crashes for killing him, try summoning one or two sentry bots to test. "player.placeatme SentryBotID". If you don't know how to get an ID, just type "help sentry 4", and in the list that appears, search for one sentry bot and use it's ID in the command placeatme. I am not sure now, if it is an Actor, it will show after Actor, and you can even try "help sentry 4 actor".

 

If the crash is ONLY happening with this exclusive robot... well, leave it for now.

 

If you crash by using coc, then you must have something off in the location and now it is difficult to know what it is. Try to find a culprit amongst your plugins and start deactivating some and testing untill you don't have a crash anymore. I mean, test it until it is running without no plugins active. If you crash with the vanilla game, then it can be an issue with your save or a bad meshe or i don't really know. If you use Mod Organizer it is easy to test a full vanilla game. Verifying the game with Steam is a valid action. But i don't think you'll get this far.

Since you posted your load order... Do you even use LOOT?
Never tried making a bashed/merged patch?

You may just be having mod conflicts.

 

Also, are you sure you want to use all the plugins that you have active?
Like NAC, Dynavision, Vivid Weathers,  Fr4nssons Light Tweaks and ELFX (clearly mods that are not comaptible with each other). (well, i would need to check, but if i remember right, Dynavision is incompatible with NAC).

Or WET and Vivid Waters.

And, as far as i know, you must choose only one of SuitDreams esps.

 

I don't have a clue about what half of your plugins do, but it is easy to have incompatibilities.
