Monster Hunter World Armor Skimpification?

Kaldaien made this https://steamcommunity.com/app/582010/discussions/3/1745594817439431537/ which allows for Texture modding in Monster Hunter World. Most of the skimpier tops for women (Anjanath, Bone, etc,) have full upper bodies rendered. 

 

So a topless mod should be pretty easy if you can get the texture modding to work. Someone got button replacement textures to work so i know its possible, but i havent been able to do it myself.

 

I got this by turning off a Vertex Shader but i couldn't do anything texture wise.

If you read the rest of his post about how the game blocks mods though... that's pretty disappointing. Since the game is on MT Framework like Resident Evil Remake, SF4, etc... it wouldn't be too hard to replace models.  Too bad the game actively checks if the files are altered and won't run if they are... guess they're scared people will just mod in stuff and not buy the 2 dollar a piece emotes.

 

Not like this game isn't already Capcom's highest selling title and there's no need to milk a profit or anything.... ?

People thought modding DOA Venus Vacation was impossible, because you couldn't edit files, but it got a workaround and now mods come out everyday. If the right people work on this game, it can happen too.

yeah but games that are inherently sexual (Senran Kagura, DOA) always get more adult modding effort than non sexual games. Unfortunatly im only interested in making non sexual games sexier.

 

That being said, we already have methods for texture stuff so hopefully we can at least go as far as that.

Gods work, gods work. Did you try using the dragons dogma MT extractor?

Also did you try to use the "naked" body as base for the texture edit?Maybe the shorts can be made into a thong...

yeah i could texture edit the base skin texture to crate a topless mod but my image editors cant save the images in a format that the game or special k can agree with.

 

also i havent tried it myself but apparently kaldeian says that this game is running some anti cheat stuff so the MT framework editors probably dont work. or at least, not for injecting or replacing files.

Oh well... lets pray they add some mod tool like FF15 did. Even Ff14, just started having not only texture but mesh mods recenty.

even with the progress you have made, could you try to perform this on an npc like handler or gathering hub ladies?  im willing to test for you

the handler and gathering hub clerks all have outfits that dont have bodies rendered under them as of right now.

im willing to bet that their summer outfits have bodies underneath but we'll probably have to wait for next summer to see lol. Maybe we'll get lucky with the fall outfits.

i finished low rank today and the tops in low rank (before you beat the Zorah Magdaros) that have upper bodies rendered underneath are the Bone, Anjanath, Kulu, and the Kirin tops. Thankfully they're all pretty good aside from the Kulu one.

 

For low rank it would be pretty easy to make a topless mod for any of them buy just replacing their textures with blank ones and editing the skin texture for the female hunter.

Nah, the anti cheat stuff MHW is running doesnt seem to like that very much. no one has done any model swapping successfully yet. We're lucky that texture mods even work tbh.

i mean if you got the money to spend on the dlc, its really easy to check if she has a body underneath it.

 

when you get and install the special k program i mentioned earlier, boot up the game and click on "Render Mod Tools".  Then open the Pixel Shader tab and click on the one that says 5afc8fb6, and then click the button that says "skip draws".

 

that should turn off all npc clothing including the handler's so you can see whats underneath.

I think most of the high rank armors are recolors, aside from some.

Personally anything that would "cut" the underwear out of the armors is fine for me (like this DD one.)

Some armors like the kirin's have partially rendered crotches but none have the full thing yet. there are some monsters exclusive to high rank that i imagine will have some results (i guarantee the Nergigante armor will have at least a fully rendered upper body).

Wonder which will come first... official 4k textures, or someone just ripping the console 4k textures.

thats pretty interesting, i saw an unpacker released yesterday but it took a day for people to really go at it.

mesh underneath the summer guild cleark's outfit is almost complete but not quite. i guess if you were looking for an npc mesh to fill holes in you could do worse than this.

 

according to the modder, the handler and the hunters cant be modded with these outfits, since hunter models are divided into chunks and the handler has a unique model for herself.
