Remove traces of SmallerTalk?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Recently I uninstalled Sexout with the help of Fallout Mod Manager, however, traces of the mod SmallerTalk still remain.

I'm trying to complete an Optional quest in New Vegas Bounties II now, but the NPC just says "Hey" and dialogue stops there. This also happens with vanilla NPC's every so often when clicking on them several times dialogue opens and they deliver one of their monotonous vanilla lines.

Is it possible FOMM is missing something when uninstalling? Do I need to delete some scripts manually?

Any help would be appreciated.

Smallertalk is just an .ESP, there are no resources to leave behind. That being said, there could have been a file corruption of some sort. Try these steps:

1) Disable all mods via FOMM. Don't just unchecked the plugins, go to package manager and disable everything.

2) Clean up anything you may have installed manually. There should be nothing in your data folder but the official bsa and esm files.

3) Open steam, right-click on fnv, and select "properties".

4) under the local files tab, select "validate game cache". Kill a few minutes, get a snack or something.

Once the validation is complete, reload any mods you want running and try your save. See if the issue persists. If its truly smallertalk thats the problem this should fix it. If the problem is still there, its a mod you reinstalled.

Mhm. Unfortunately, I didn't but the game on Steam. But I understand from your comment that reinstall is in order?

Damn. In any case, I don't think I'm going to reinstall, unless this really stops me from completing the game or other side-quests, just not in the habbit of installing 55 Mods all over again. It's a minor annoyance in the meantime.

That's what FOMM is for.

Or you can backup your data directory as it is now, install the game over again, copy the new data directory over the top of your backup, then copy the backup into the new dir.

This will get all the vanilla files overwritten with new ones while keeping the 3rd party files intact.

May also want to check out this fix mod for NVB2. Unpatched NVB2 has quite a few dialogue/trigger/event issues.

Nope' date=' didn't fix it.

Thanks, that might work. I'll keep that in mind If this ever becomes a real annoyance, I suspect it will in some point, but I'll let it go for now.

Is there anyway I can backup my Load Order too? I don't want to activate everything and place everything in the right order again.

Always very helpful, thanks.

Yeah, in FOMM, click "Load Order" menu, then "Export" and it will save a text file containing current load order. To restore it, click "Load Order" menu then "Import" and then find the file you originally exported.
