Juozas Posted June 15, 2018 Posted June 15, 2018 I recently switched to Vortex for my mod managment and now all of my animations are missing. Whenever I start an encounter, the two characters clip in to eachother, sounds play and nothing else happens. I still have the SL Controller in my inventory and I can use them during scenes (so I am not scene locked). All mods are functioning and on, but all animations are missing. The strange part is that whenever I run GenerateFNISForUsers and update the settings, it lists all of the animations from my mods (and says that there are too many), so the animations aren't gone from my computer, it's just that the game doesn't load them. (By the way, I also tried running NMM again and the animations still wouldn't load)

Juozas Posted June 19, 2018 Author Posted June 19, 2018 How do I make sure that the files are going in the right place?
tasairis Posted June 19, 2018 Posted June 19, 2018 GenerateFNISForUsers creates files in meshes\ and scripts\. Again, I don't know how Vortex works, but those files that are created need to be somewhere that gets loaded. That could mean they go into their own mod, or they go directly in Data, or something like that. Look for FNISVersionGenerated.pex. If it's in a proper place (Data\scripts, or a mod's\scripts, or something like that) then the other files are probably in the proper places too.
Juozas Posted June 20, 2018 Author Posted June 20, 2018 Also, how do I upgrade to XXL? Because I've installed it but the tool still functions as if I had the regular FNIS installed Also, I found two versions of the file you mentioned. One in the Vortex FNIS folder and one in the Skyrim FNIS folder. The animations were all in the scripts folder, but the FNISVersionGenerated.pex wasn't. When using the Vortex folder, the FNIS tool doesn't note the existance of the animations, while in the FNIS tool in the Skyrim folder does, so it must be that Vortex as a mod manager isn't deploying the animations
Juozas Posted June 20, 2018 Author Posted June 20, 2018 I found a third FNISVersionGenerated. It is in the FNISXXL Scripts folder in the Vortex folder
tasairis Posted June 22, 2018 Posted June 22, 2018 FNIS XXL is just a version of FNIS that handles more animations. You'd install that one instead of the regular FNIS. There should be two copies of something named FNISVersionGenerated: - FNISVersionGenerated_TEMPLATE.pex alongside the FNIS tool itself - FNISVersionGenerated.pex where the FNIS output went The second one will be in scripts\, and with that will also be meshes\ and possibly a tools\ with some miscellaneous files. Those need to be in whatever place Vortex needs them to be. They could be in Skyrim's actual Data\ directory, or they could be in some sort of mod. It kinda sounds like you have two or three copies of FNIS floating around. That'll just be confusing. Get rid of everything FNIS you have, then install FNIS XXL, then run it. Find the output (the output in the FNIS window will say where) and put it all in Skyrim's Data\ if it wasn't there already.
