Seph64 Posted June 15, 2018 Posted June 15, 2018 When traversing through the Soul Cairn, I crash to the desktop when I reach a certain point (on the path to the northern portal tower). It often happens when I loot a corpse. Other times, when I reach Arvak's head, the game just freezes up. Included the log file and the load order. Sladen2019 Posted June 15, 2018 Posted June 15, 2018 You might be experiencing the nasty Jiubs Pages quest crash. You may need to use the setstage command to complete it and then hopefully the crashes will stop. http://en.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Impatience_of_a_Saint
Seph64 Posted June 16, 2018 Author Posted June 16, 2018 Damn it Jiub! lol Well, I deleted the save since I thought it was one of the mods that were doing it (and thusly disabled some mods and since the game does not like it when you disable or uninstall mods mid playthrough...). I guess when I get back to that point, I'll just make it a point NOT to start that quest. Thanks anyway.
Sladen2019 Posted June 16, 2018 Posted June 16, 2018 The quest can start automatically and silently while in the zone. Its a serious known cause of crashing and I always setstage it when I first enter the Soul Cairn.

Seph64 Posted June 18, 2018 Author Posted June 18, 2018 Well, I got back to where I left off in the Soul Cairn, and... I somehow think that St Jiub isn't the cause of my woes. I've completed the quest via the console command listed in that article and still crashing and locking up while in the Soul Cairn. I managed to just sprint my way through the entire thing this morning with no issues, so maybe it was just a random crash glitch.
