CTD before main menu - Mod Organizer broken? (windows update maybe?)

Hello there,

today I have run into the issue, that my skyrim (LE) won't load anymore. It ctds just before the main menu, just like with missing masters.

In MO hovering over my saves shows no issues. The plugin list is fine too, no warnings are shown..

Yesterday the game was working fine. Then some update (KB4284835) was installed and the game now is broken today.

Not sure what's going on, since i changed nothing on MO in between yesterday and today.. So I'm starting to suspect that windows updates might be the culprit.

I'm using MO 1.3.11; Windows build is 1803 Win10 Home;

I read, that there used to be an issue with MO and win10 insider builds a while back: https://github.com/TanninOne/modorganizer/issues/1124

Not sure, if or how that ever was resolved...

So the question is: Does anyone else have problems with starting skyrim through MO1 right now? Or am I the only one? ?

EDIT: hmm, maybe it's not related to MO. Can't even start vanilla skyrim through steam anymore..

seems like there's even more broken. gtaV is not working either.

I also just tried to verify the game files. steam tried to download some files that were corrupted supposedly, but it didn't seem to have permission to access/change the files..

Somehow seems like user privileges/permissions were changed somehow?

not sure wtf is going on here...

Try checking for an application update on the Steam program itself. Also try giving your PC a restart and waiting about 5-10 minutes before you try playing anything.

Another possibility is that someone else using your PC switched your Windows account to their own or so and its still on that account.

ok, I think i narrowed it down to some problem with my current user account and its permissions..

If I switch my account from admin to standard, I can play gta again. Also with a new local account i can play it even as an admin. Not sure if using admin account for everything is a smart idea, though.. or was that actually taken care of by the uac-check thing with win7/10?

However skyrim still remains broken. But maybe I actually broke that one while trying to fix it.. ?

Now i just need to transfer all my crap into a new account.. or maybe just nuke the whole thing and do a clean install.. ?

major hardware upgrade could happen soon anyway.. ?

Thanks for taking the time to reply!
