Replacing the Skeleton used by an armour mesh?

I have a couple of XPSME HDT armour .nifs I want to use in my replacer overhaul. I've probably mentioned that I'm trying to keep the outfits maximally accessible, so I want them all to use the vanilla skeleton with no HDT.

I know how to remove HDT (thanks to LL!), but if I want to change the skeleton entirely to the vanilla Skeleton,  what do I need to do? Can I just delete the entire skeleton node-by-node in nifskope, and then paste in the regular skeleton the same way or will that screw up the rigging? Would exporting it as an Obj work then reimporting it to nifskope work better? Or do I have to go all the way and revert to an .obj file, import the obj to Blender, then re-export it as a new .nif?

Thanks.

Build it as a bodyslide project and select non hdt body, only vanilla bones are added. Or use nifscope or bodyslide and delete the hdt bones from existing nif you don't need to remove any others and copy pasting would break it.

So, simply removing the XPSME skeleton (which would also remove the HDT nodes, I guess) and putting in a vanilla one should work?

Well, sounds good then! I'll give that try and see how it goes.
