Work Rework WIP Modlets

I've been working on a DynaPill work overhaul for some time now, but some aspects probably work okay on their own. Here, you can find my attempts at making these features standalone.

 

Most of these are intended to make it harder to make a ton of money at work.

Very WIP, and most of these have been extracted from a larger mod project, so I fully expect bugs.

 

IMPORTANT: It looks like a significant change in the Sales Job is going to be happening from XCL 0.21.7 onward, so some of these mods may not work properly. Some sales features, such as upselling, didn't exist when these were first made. I've split off the ones I'm still using from the ones I believe are currently broken.

 

Files and what they do:

  • Complicated Quicksale - A complete overhaul of quicksales that attempts to simulate the process of a normal sale. Added ability to use AP to boost your chances.
  • Sales Demos Charm RNG - (NOTE: I noticed problems in XCL 0.22 that required an update. v0.1.1 of this modlet fixes that, but older versions can still use 0.1.0.) When making your sales pitch during a pill demo, you will no longer get a fixed sales chance increased based on charm. Instead, it'll be randomly selected from a range based on your charm.
  • Drew Has Limits - You don't get great cheap leads from Drew forever. He'll jack up prices for a while and will eventually cut you off.
  • Sale End Unpredictability v 0.2.0 - When failing a sale of 20 pills or more, you have a 33% chance of trying to salvage the sale by doing a pill demo. (Low sales chances in demos mean a higher chance things will get sexual, depending on the nature of your would-be client.)
  • RNG Pill Unlocks - Probably not 100% stable, so use at your own risk. Reduces the number of pills you have to sell at the beginning, and randomly selects which pills get unlocked next.
  • Interruptible Lead Research - Replaces the "Research" and "Research All" options with a system that researches as many aspects as your intellect allows in about an hour. Intended to allow coworkers to chat with you at your desk. (See Cold-Calling Interruptions for the companion mod.)

 

A few more details on Interruptible Lead Research: 

 

In X-Change Life, the passage "location event" handles most random events, including coworkers chatting you up. At DynaPill, this passage is only called it two places: At your main desk screen, and in the break room.

 

This means that, while researching leads (or doing cold calling), coworkers are completely blocked from talking to you. After realizing I could do two back-to-back pill sales and end the day without seeing anyone, I decided to do for leads research what I did for cold calling, and make it a more modular activity.

 

This mod also makes your Intellect stat factor more into your research times. It mattered somewhat in the base game, but was a bit inconsistent. That said, it may need a little balance adjustment (or could even be expanded to allow things like distraction from arousal). 

 

Modlets that will likely cause problems with XCL v0.22+:

  • Work Sale Variability Changes - Changes how many more pills the "higher-revenue company" boost will give you. The formula should make smaller amounts normal, with large amounts only happening occasionally.
  • Lead Pill Count Tweaks - Changes how many pills "high volume leads" will give you. They're now a multiplier based on the original amount, rather than a flat addition. Also changes your likelihood of getting said leads.
  • Sale End Unpredictability v 0.1.7 - Initial draft at a mechanic that allows you to occasionally do a demo to salvage a failed sale, or get offered a double-or-triple pill quantity in exchange for doing a demo. (Should be compatible with Office Babes/Girls)

Released

  • Did a re-balance on Interruptible Lead Research, with version 0.1.1 being faster at Int 10 and slower at Int 1. (Old version is still available for those who prefer that.)
