About This File

This mod adds Black male NPCs to X-Change Life, giving Summer City’s beautiful women exactly what they need.
Female MCs can now get hit on by them, sleep with them, and even make them fuckbuddies.

It does not replace existing random guys—it adds to the pool and makes the game hotter.

🗝️ How to Unlock Kendra's Questline

To start the BLACKED storyline with Kendra:

Attend Dredd’s party (Serum Scene foursome) 3+ times
You must get cummed on while stripping
Speak with Victor Maddox (Bruce/SWP storyline from v0.21.5)
To do this, you must:
→ Reach Sales Level 3+
→ Make Bruce angry:
• Win a Blackjack pill bet (he turns into Bree)
• OR: Bet your masculinity, lose, take the Resistance deal, then break it
Wait 4 in-game days
Visit The Broken Drum — Kendra will stop you outside and the story begins

*You do NOT need to go through with the Corpo Revenge party. Just start the Victor storyline.*

This mod supports 9 of the 10 base girls.
Cassidy is not supported. (See below for details.)

Cassidy originally used images from Cassidy Banks, but now uses Autumn Falls, who does not perform interracial scenes.

I may release Cassidy Banks as a standalone PC in the future.

DO NOT UNZIP the .xcl files
Load them with the in-game mod loader

🧩 Compatibility

This mod modifies the generate random guy passage—but it doesn’t overwrite it.
If another mod does overwrite it, load BLACKED after that mod.

I’ll keep this updated as needed, but let me know if you run into errors.

Known conflict: Bar Drug
A patch is available—only needed if you're using Bar Drug.

❓ Why I Made This

On my first XCL playthrough, I kept hoping for a Black guy to hit on my MC at the bar.
It never happened.

I loved the Dredd content and knew there was a huge opportunity to bring more of that to the game.
Nobody else was tackling it, so I did.

## 0.4.28 (Core Update Only)

**Requires XChange Life 0.25.2 or newer.** If you have updated the game, you need this — 0.4.27 throws errors on 0.25.2.

### Bonwit Teller backport removed

This closes out the temporary workaround from 0.4.27.

- 0.25.2 ships Aphrodite's native filter registry, so the ♠️ filter now registers through the game's own hook instead of a backported copy of the store.

- **Other Bonwit mods work normally again.** The backport was overwriting the entire store; that is gone.

- Worth being explicit: the backported copy does not merely become redundant on 0.25.2, it breaks — it calls a function the game removed this version. So there is no "stay on 0.4.27" option once you have updated.

### Fixes

- **"There isn't a temp variable named `_npc_generated_in_one_pass`"** whenever a Black man was generated. 0.25.1 moved NPC generation into JS and added an internal flag that the older passages expect; BLACKED was still building its guys the old way. It now generates through the game's engine. Also hardened so that a script-load failure can't quietly bring the same error back.

- **Black fuckbuddies calling you on an unsupported character.** Pick up a Black fuckbuddy, then New-U into a body BLACKED doesn't support, and he could still call at night. With the People Pleaser side effect you couldn't even turn him down without spending an Action Point, and accepting led straight into content that doesn't exist. He is now dropped from the caller list before the call happens, so the evening just proceeds normally. (This is the case the 0.2.0 workaround missed — that one caught the change-of-body, this one catches the guy who was already on the books.)

- **BLACKED resetting relationship records it doesn't own.** Aubrey and Isabelle are IDs that other mods use too. BLACKED's setup could wipe an existing relationship back to zero — respect, dominance, friendship, attraction, tags and events. Each record now checks whether it already exists before writing anything.

- **The Black cock contact minigame fires again.** It was hooked to `cock contact alert box`, which the base game deprecated in 0.24 and stopped calling — so the hypnosis ambience and the BBC enforcement had silently stopped happening. Now hooked to `cock contact game`, which is what all three entry points actually use.

- **The BBC cock contact minigame has been rebuilt on the base game's engine.** BLACKED was carrying a ~2700-line copy of the whole minigame, taken from an older version of the game and shown inside a Harlowe dialog. It had drifted a long way from the real thing: no "Mental Reconditioning" / "Focus Techniques" cards, no background portraits, a stray OK button and a band of dead space under the board — and when you finished, it left you on a blank screen with no way to continue.

All BLACKED ever needed here was a narrower set of images, so that is all it does now. The BBC version is registered as a variant of base's own minigame with the image set filtered to the black ones. Everything else — the layout, the scoring, the audio, the unlock screen, the win/lose screens — is the base game's, so this screen now looks and behaves exactly like the normal one and will stay that way through future updates. The BBC-specific taunts and win/lose lines are kept.

The variant keeps its **own** unlocked-image collection, so playing it never touches your progress in the normal cock contact game, and vice versa.

- **Squashed line spacing** on the "he's about to cum" blowjob screen — the video, the satisfaction gain and the prose all ran together on one line.

- **Base scenes bleeding into BBC oral scenes** for all nine base girls. A missing pair of brackets on an `(else:)` meant the game's own version ran even after BLACKED had already set its scene up. Same fix applied to the modder template.

- **Incoming call card and ringtone restored** on the fuckbuddy phone call. BLACKED's version of that screen had dropped both.

### Under the hood

- All BLACKED screens now build through the game's `(screen:)` macro instead of hand-written HTML. This restores the `default-layout` wrapper, the scroll reset, and the keyboard hotkey refresh that the hand-built version never had.

- Replaced the last of the old `(set:$next to ...)(display:"change screen")` navigation with `(cs:)`.

- `:: events [around]` is now a passage tag instead — one less `[around]` sitting on a core base-game passage.

- New `(is_npc_black:)` macro replaces the ~130 copies of `(checkdm:$npc,"race","is","black")` that the whole mod is built on. Pass a datamap to check a different slot, e.g. `(is_npc_black:$npc2)`; with no argument it checks `$npc`. The old `(checkdm:)` form still works, so existing character mods are unaffected — but the modder template now uses the macro.

- Marked **Dredding Intimacy** as incompatible in the mod metadata for older versions. New 0.2.0 version will become the new minimum requirement when it gets released.
