Three houses and football

As the title says this entry will mostly be about Fire Emblem: Three Houses and football since the EPL has started. Also due to Fire Emblem (and FFXIV) I've not been playing anything else really.

Fire Emblem stuff:

Spoiler

So Three Houses, it's the best Fire Emblem game I've played. The story is on point (in the 1 full and 90% of another route I've played through) and I'm loving that the various skills aren't locked to a specific class (so I can have a bow wielding flier, or a mage that can use a sword) on top of that you can train any character to do anything although they all have their strengths and weaknesses (except for Byleth who only has strengths and neutrals, no weaknesses) so training Dimitri (who primarily uses lancess) to use magic is feasible but might take a while as reason (the skill that governs "black" magic) is one of his weaknesses. On top of that some characters have a "budding" talent which is usually a talent that they're either bad at (or neutral at) and if you train them on it enough it turns into one of their strengths, for example Felix (who is an absolute monster by the way) has reason as his budding talent. The combat is the usual Fire Emblem combat with a bit extra added in being gambits; you can give each character a battalion which allows you to use a gambit, these gambits have a range of effects from dealing damage, to healing, to increasing movement speed additionally if a damage dealing gambit hits it prevents the target from moving the next turn. They can also break a monster's armour (another addition) and can attack multiple enemies at once (or buff multiple allies at once.) As for the monsters they're sort of like raid bosses, with multiple health bars and armour that needs to be broken before you can do any decent damage, most of the time they're completely optional (mostly, there's one you HAVE to fight over the course of the story) and add an extra bit of difficulty to each map.

On top of that your selection of units is relatively small (in comparison to other Fire Emblem games) which forces you into using units you might not normally use and as such you might grow to actually like them (which is how I found out that Felix is an absolute monster) although you do get fucked by this if you get unlucky with each character's growths. You can also recruit characters from other classes, however the opposite isn't true (which I do and don't like, I like that I can keep all the characters and experiment but I don't like that there's no consequences for ignoring some of them) which is useful as it allows you to fix weaknesses in your army (or just recruit your favourite waifu/husbando) which I found useful on my initial attempt with the Black Eagle house (which I got fucked on due to my own mistakes and bad growths.) I won't go into story details other than to say that (from what I've played so far) the Golden Deer route is the best one.

Football stuff:

Spoiler

As for the football, the EPL season has finally started and Arsenal managed to get their campaign started with a win and I think Arsenal have a good chance of getting top 4 this season (and maybe even win the Europa League) especially with the signings of Kieran Tierney, David Luis and Nicolas Pepe (also Dani Cebellos on loan) however I personally would have kept a hold of Iwobi as I feel he'd be more useful as a number 10 than Ozil or Mkhitaryan, but getting £40 million for him was extremely good business. Other than that there's nothing much else to say, I'm actually looking forward to this season.
