Meant to have this entry up last night but I got distracted by other things. Also the shot in the spoiler wasn't the one I wanted to take but that doesn't matter.

But anyway what I really wanted to talk about is the suicide mission in Mass Effect 2 and how a lot of people seem to fuck it up on their first run though of it which puzzles me as the game gives you hints not just at each choice but throughout the entire game (and in the case of Garrus and Tali, through most of the first game as well) as well as some being just common sense. For example someone I talked to when the game first came out said they sent Garrus through the tunnels where you need a good hacker, Garrus isn't a hacker he specialises in mostly weapons and vehicles with his tech abilities, I sent Legion the first time and Tali every other time instead I had Garrus lead the second team (he led his own mercenary group he was an obvious choice for that role especially with the outcry at Miranda volunteering for that role) and both survived. Another problem people I've talked to said they had was choosing the wrong biotic user (specifically one of them chose Miranda) and again the game practically screams the correct answer at you (that being either Samara or Jack) with Jacks recruitment mission and all the knowledge of the Asari being powerful biotics (and Samara being particularly powerful even by Asari standards) and while Miranda has biotic powers she's not stated anywhere to be powerful (to my knowledge) and even if you weren't too sure you SEE Jack's power so wouldn't she be the most obvious choice? Although I chose Samara because I didn't have Jack's loyalty (I chose Miranda instead) but that brings me onto the last point; character's loyalty, I made sure that I kept any disloyal characters (Jack and Zaeed in my first run) in my team up until the end where it stops mattering. It's not like I made no mistakes with that mission though, I started it too late so half the non companion crew got killed but at least none of my companions died. Also I felt that ME1 and ME3 had the perfect number of team members, ME2 had too many and a lot of them felt useless outside of certain situations (Tali and Legion only seemed good at fighting Mechs and Geth and almost anyone with tech abilities was pretty much useless in the suicide mission.)

Sorry about the massive piece on ME2's suicide mission (and also sorry if it comes off as me being arrogant about my ability to pay attention to facts given to me in a game) but it was something I ended up thinking about at work last night (I was incredibly bored) and it came about due to me watching videos of people on youtube going on about how they messed up (or how it was possible to mess up) the suicide mission. Also it got me thinking about who I'd put in an ideal RPG party (4 members) and that party would include Garrus, along with Vivi (from FFIX,) Lightning (FFXIII) and Python (Fire Emblem Shadows of Valentia) not exactly balanced with only one melee character and no healers (although Lightning and Garrus can both do some healing) but fuck it I like all these characters.
