Chapter 8-A Call Home-Part 1
I had to split this into two parts, because of the file limit, sorry about that, Part 2 will be up as soon as possible
Start of Chapter 8-Part 1
Honestly, I probably should've seen that coming. It was rather obvious, I go out the next morning two people are found dead. I must've been more reckless than I thought, but us vampires, when we wanted blood we would do anything and rarely remember the night. So I had a mob following me torches and pitchforks in hand, as much as I would've liked to see them try to kill me, it was Joanna who worried me. Her sword was made of one of the only materials that could kill a vampire, and she was nothing if not a champion of the people.
I ran and ran until I reached the city gates, I had to carry on, if I didn't I would be poked full of holes, which is horribly inconvenient even for a vampire and even one as esteemed as I was, well I was respected and feared a few hundred years ago. Not that mattered when you had hundreds of peasants chasing you.
I figured I'd be untraceable once in the wild winds of the mountains, but as soon as I left the city gates most of the peasants were hesitant to follow me. The forest around Bruma was much nicer than I realised. It had a strange beauty to it, despite being one of the coldest places I've ever been in my life and having murders, killings and attacks happening hourly.
I found a road rather quickly after my escape, but the road was battered and worn down, it had been in use a few hundred years ago, but whatever use it got was lost when whatever it led to was destroyed or burnt.
Then I spied something on the hill, it looked like a castle of some sort, with tall outer walls and a central keep.
Perhaps a closer look would reveal a few things about it. I just had to hope it wasn't worth the waste of time, despite the abundance of it I had. It looked as if there was some steps up, at least I I didn't have to climb up the walls and drop in like I had to in Whiterun.
Then I reached the gate and saw it, it looked like some of the Akaviri architecture I'd seen in some of the books I used to read at home. It looked nice, but mostly lacked practicality as was the issue with most Akaviri architecture.
I admit I would've been happy with this being home, but I'm sure every guard would look in the ruins around the city for me. I'll just loot the place and leave as soon as I can. I might find something better to wear than this armour. Something a little more my style.
I walked into the keep as quickly as I could, and inside was a wreck. the entire place was a shadow of it's former self.
I think I'll make sure this place is clear first. Then I'll find what I can use, if there is anything usable.
Well the basement was clear, well excepting a few skeletons and collapsed ceilings. Although I managed to find some new clothes for myself. Something that seemed like mine.
I think I'll be fine getting changed here, I can't see any windows so I don't think anyone can look in at me without my consent, if I didn't kill them first.
When I got changed, I felt different. The new clothes changed me more than my experiences did. These were nice and soft though quite protective where it needed to be. Leave it to the Akaviri to do something well. It's a shame I didn't become more involved with them while I could, I suppose I could've learned a lot from them.
It was time to leave, I could already hear the footsteps of someone nearing the castle. I could also smell them, they were rather enticing, but I didn't want an even worse name for myself, I mean I'm probably already being named the Butcher of Bruma, or something similar.
Strange everything looked so peaceful from up here, it was only the wind to keep anyone company up here, and the wind was brutal and harsh. I needed to get to lower ground or to the tower I could see in the distance. there were lights from it, but whoever was in there probably weren't friends of Bruma, and I needed help, as much as I didn't want to admit it.
A few hours later...
Well I hope this climb is worth it, especially with how tall it is, I don't want to waste the time I have, because each second I wait, the closer Joanna gets to me and the closer to a possible death I get.
Well I can safely say this climb wasn't at all worth it. There was a pair of mages there, but they were old and useless, and atop the tower was nothing but a half decent view.
Well I can see a manor house from here, I might have to borrow it from its owners, I need somewhere to get out of the cold and I need rest too. It looked as if a fire was already roaring inside.
I think I'll have to take it, I needed somewhere to consolidate my thoughts and I think hiding in plain sight might be the best way to escape the justice of Bruma. Well mob justice not actual justice because if it was they wouldn't be hunting me down.
I was right about this place, there was food drink and a huge fire, sure I had to throw the people out into the cold, but I wasn't completely merciless I did give them a fur to cover themselves with. I could've left them with nothing and have them die in the night.
Well I could eat my fill, sure there was no human blood, but that wasn't expected in a place inhabited by humans, I could've borrowed theirs but I'd already killed two people in a night, I wouldn't kill another. Not yet at least.
I suppose I'd need some sleep if I was to get up tomorrow and cross the border back into Skyrim. That would be simple enough provided it was the same commander on the border.
Although I needed some rest.
Gods is it already morning?
I suppose I should get up, I need to set off early if I'm going to get to Skyrim soon. The better question is why someone is knocking at the door. I hope the people weren't expecting company.
"A delivery for you Lady Shea, from High Rock." The courier explained as he forced a letter into my hands.
"Who is it from?" I asked as I began to look at the seal. It looked strangely familiar though I couldn't figure out who it was.
"The sender paid me to to just give you the letter, I don't know who it was." The courier explained as he began to make his way out of my way.
Fine I suppose I should read it at least.
"To my dearest sister, Shea.
I invite you back to your home, I will forgive you for killing father and I am willing to endorse your place on the council of the Elders. Mother hasn't forgotten that you killed her love, but as I have written I will forgive. Queen Esmeralda has been willing to write you a pardon for hurting her son, Prince Vlad and killing another vampire. I request you come home as soon as possible, I will be awaiting your arrival with open arms.
Your sincerely your love, Solomia."
Well she definitely put a small amount of time into that, but it was warming. At least it showed she still cared a little bit.
Well I can't go home with my hair looking like a beggar's.
Now that's better.
End of Chapter 8-Part 1
It is likely the second part will be up in a few hours
