Antlyn And The Fire That Burns

Part 2

A conversation between Antlyn and her mentor, Teldryn Saro that takes place after Antlyn has come to Whiterun to warn the Jarl about the dragon attack at Helgen and killed her first dragon, absorbing her first dragon soul. To show his gratitude, the Jarl gives her the keys to a special property just outside the walls of Whiterun. After killing Mirmulnir, Antlyn and Saro are relaxing in the baths of their new home. Or trying to relax...

Teldryn: What troubles you, my Breton peach...?

Antlyn, a worried look on her face: You've always taught me never to do work for free... Why have you never charged me any coin for your help?

Teldryn: Do you remember how I found you? Lying on the shattered wood of that skiff, along the northern shores of Solstheim, near Bristleback Cave...

Antlyn: I wanted to give up, to die, but you wouldn't let me. It seems like another world now... I was on a boat with my parents, returning to High Rock. Late at night, someone had snuck onto the boat. I woke up to the smell of wood and flesh burning. The boat was breaking up around me. I couldn't find my parents but I knew they were dead... and I was alone. I barely pulled myself onto the skiff. I don't know how long I was floating on the water. Days... Weeks? And then a storm came... I thought the skiff was going to break apart but somehow I made it to Solstheim... and then I opened my eyes and you were there.

Teldryn: To think, if I hadn't found you, the Rieklings may have gotten there and had a taste of you first! To be honest, I did not think you would last the night. You were so weak... but I was wrong. I could see the fire burning inside of you, the fire that burns. Just needed someone to watch your back til you were strong again.

Antlyn: Why did you stay with me... You could have sent me on my way a hundred times.

Teldryn: The night you climbed into my bed, you gave me the greatest gift you could give.

Antlyn: I knew I could trust you. I knew you would keep me warm and safe until I could stand again.

Teldryn: You brought me back to life again. For a long time, all I've ever done was take jobs from people and get paid . I didn't always like the work and I didn't always like the people who hired me. The only thing I cared about was getting paid. But then I found you on that beach and I knew there was something I could do just because I wanted to, not because someone was paying me to do it. I could teach you what I know and help you find the people who took your parents away from you.

Antlyn: How many times do I have to bring you back to life? You're insatiable...

Teldryn: I will always stand between you and whoever or... whatever... tries to hurt you, my Breton peach.

Antlyn: I'm afraid, Teldryn. Before yesterday, it was enough to think about finding out who killed my parents and avenging them. But ever since that wall called out to me in Bleak Falls Barrow... and today, that dragon, Mirmulnir... he spoke to me before he died. And the energy I absorbed from him after... Now they are calling me Dovahkiin. I even hear the name carried on the winds when we are walking.

Teldryn: You are going to have to make a choice very soon, I think... You are going to have to choose between claiming your revenge or finding out more about what it means to be this Dovahkiin. Whatever choice you make, I will have your back.

Antlyn, wiping tears from her eyes: Of course you will... With both hands, no doubt.

Teldryn: Nerevar, guide me...

Antlyn: Let's leave the Nerevarine out of this. I think you know your way just fine.
